HELP! Lock Issues on Mk4 Polo

Featured Replies

Hi,

First post and I'm already scrounging for help!

I'm converting over to this lovely forum as some arse wrote off my Megane (I know - it was french, it really wasn't worth it...) and I have some very lovely friends that are donating their old Polo to my cause.

There's just one problem. In her words...

"There is a barrel in the passenger side although the barrel at the moment turns but doesn't seem to be connecting with the central locking system. There isn't a barrel in the driver side door (Think it fell out while I was driving after it had stopped connecting with the CL system - same as the issue with the passenger door). The boot is lockable on the central locking, but I've never been able to use the key in that lock anyway (key goes in but lock doesn't turn if that makes sense)"

So. I'm having 2 thoughts. I want things done properly so that everything works with one set of keys/fobs. I dont want to have a different key for the boot etc. If it's going to be prohibitively expensive then I guess I could manage with a different ignition key, but it would pi$$ me off.

I could get all the keys / locks working or I could get the locks removed, smoothed over and a nice alarm / central locking system fitted.

I'm guessing the second option is going to be far more expensive, but I'm tempted to just take it to a dealer to get it sorted.

Any Ideas? I'm desperate!
