oo sounds like you have just spent a nice 2k ish there inc the carb set up!

look good though! shall be a stunning car when done!

man polos are bottomless pits for such small cars!

can you put a price on happiness though?

for everything else there's mastercard!

price run down so fa then this is going to depress me.

car with kw suspension, 6 point harnesses, drivers bucket seat, roll cage, berg cup arches £700

Limited slip diff £600

Gear box £150

Engine £300

cam kit £950

carb setup £300

exhaust manifold £160

fibre glass panels £272

adjustable top mounts £90

Bottom bushes and anti roll bar blocks £100

plumbed in fire extingusire, passenger seat, hand held fire extiungusire, verticall handbrake, steering wheel and other rally stuff cant remember £1000

bits to make bias pedal box £150

paint £150

so far that is £4,872 and there is alot more needed to finish this car and I've probably missed bits.

this is why its taking so long to build.

:o wow thats alot of money

I'm sure it will all be worth it in the end and be a superb car :D

It's a lot of cash for a polo. Most people are spending thousands more on new peugeot 206's and forecourt rovers, now that's a waste of money.

Hywel's getting a lot for his dosh.

i started to do what you have done. but decided to stop when i got to the first one - pistons £650

i am absolutly loving the sandblasting of the shell! amazing!!!

Good to see some of our parts being put through their paces soon 8-)

280/280 kit & Carbs = :-D

That looks AWESOME blasted and paint. Well done mate, this is truly going to be a beast when complete :-o

god damn you being able to make a lot of it yourself! it cost me (or will do when get the cage) near on 700 for the cage and arches!

i think he got it secondhand in a bit of a poor state..

as you can see alot of work has gone into getting the shell into the state she is in at thr moment from when I 1st bought the car but all the components on the car are in tip top condition so parts wise it was a bargain.

Wow dunno if i could justify spending that much money on a car thats worth say £400 but fairplay mate this will be a sick ride in the end!

v nice car dude! envious!!

I've kept an excel spreadsheet of all my expenditure on my mini. i know how depressing it is when you see the total. I'm at just over £7000 so far for my mini :( considering i bought the car for £40... and it was supposed to be a budget build. oops!

To be honest I think this car will be worth alot more than £400 when done. If this is a winning car in the 1400cc class it will sell for around the £10k mark without a problem.

and that is what I'm building a car so I can win the 1400cc class.

its going to be one very special car when finished! keep up the good work and don't compromise for any thing!

Good work, Interesting Build too ! What media did they use for blasting the shell ?

ditto, looked to really cut through the paint well. in my experience tungsten shot doesnt cut through paint THAT well and for £130 i would have thought they would have been tryin to hoover it up after cause its not cheap!
