Berg Cup (rally Car)

Fan-fookin'-tastic Hywel!

By far the best part of any project is putting it all back together again. Suddenly you realise all the hard graft was worthwhile when you can see these results.

This is gonna be superb once its finished.

Keep up the excellent work Hywel.

Cheers,

Richard.

its definatly hte best build thread at the moment and guna be an amazing car when finished!!!

love to do this well something simular in the future when i have the space and time...

one question tho... why have you kept the whole dash??? surly some weight can be saved by only keeping the drivers side or dials only... obviously you need to stick to a certain weight limit but would mean you could shift that weight about and put the centre of gravity were you need it???

the dash I'm a mk2 without the heater pipes and stuff is really light hardly worth getting rid of it.

awesome stuff, with every post you do, I think Blondie rise's in value ha ha. am I in line for a blip when she is up and running?? I shall pop down when I can.

the dash I'm a mk2 without the heater pipes and stuff is really light hardly worth getting rid of it.

I never understand why people remove dashboards. 99% of race cars still have them intact. Looks much better with them there and like you say the Polo ones are really light.

i jus wanna say i love this thread and the car is gonna be amazing keep us all updated with the progress

You must be gagging to get it finished. I can't wait to see what it is going to look like, must be driving you mad.

Fantastic job!!!!!!

Why didn´t you weld in the strutbar?

  • Author

because didnt feel it needed it and not sure I'm going to like a polo with it on yet

You don't need it. As the beam is rotating around an axis across the car, all the forces are longitudinal down the car and in your case directly into the cage. The rear suspension doesn't generate side loads like the front end, especially with such upright shocks.

dont know if i could rally something that looks so good,

amazing thread cant wait to see it all together and been given deah.
