Yeah, how the hell did you survive that?

i used to work for an insurance broker dealing with claims so i got to see plenty of sick stuff (even fatals!) and lost a mate 2 years ago in an accident which wasn't his fault!

I've had a couple of mishaps myself but never took any photos!

The last car that I crashed. Was my baby focus 2.0 loved that thing. Crashed it the night before on that road it was foggy and was being stupid thinking if i got into trouble the T/C will save me. It didn't :(

The crash does however show a bit of a design fault on the Mk1 focus. There was no one in the passenger seat when i crashed yeah the windscreen is smashed. This is caused by the dashboard flying open to release the airbag. I see this as a bit dangerous as it does leave glass all over the passenger seat and footwell.

Yep the first pics of the MK3 are mine, jesus was over a year and a half ago and definatly before Walshc's big one, I felt soo lucky after reading your thread later on that year.

man walshy's pics are so bad, i still look at them now and think what the fuck, as I'm sure you know!

some intresting pics here tho, a slightly odd topic, but i like it!

I'm sure its one of the guys had a totally mad crash in a mk3 that got squashed - cant remember their name though!

Lost control in a national speed limit zone in the wet, corrected it, managed to drift a while thinking i bet this looks well good, clipped the kerb, flicked the back end into the air which swung round and twated a lamp-post, about 2 foot away from an oak tree, and skided to a stop about 100 foot further up the road.....

Hey, I'm new! and oddly this thread is kind of what has brought me to the world of the Polo and these forums. I had a Peugeot 306 Which I had saved up for after my 1st car a beat up Mk2 1.3 Golf. Drove the 306 for 18 months when a poor lad drove into the back of me the day after he passed his test despite it only being a little one the wrote my car off .I was kind of chuffed as I'd decided to go back to the VW banger way anyway but didn't want to loose too much on the Pug so was intending to drive it till it fell apart. After this I got me my current beast a 1.3 H reg blue Polo Country! Not looked back. Anyway, no where near as gnarly as what I've seen on here but here is my little shunt. As you can see his faired worse than mine.

yous were all lucky to get out of those accidents still alive!

touch wood, i've only had a bump as yet!

i hope it stays that way for a while.

my boyf crashed his mam's car into the back of somone and my friend has just written his 2.0ltr clio sport off cause he wasn't watching what he was doing wen he was doing 80!

that just shows to not look at the dash wen travelling at speed.

Well my only crash shows how a little bump can be the end. My trusty polo 1.4, my bro had it from around 40k all the way up to around 100k without any issues at all and he ragged the pants off it the majority of the time, I had the car passed down to me, within around 3 months this happened:

DSC00196.jpg

Was driving in the wet around 1am, it only just started raining, got to a roundabout a little too fast with a drunken mate hanging out of the passenger window. There must have been oil or something, I turned out and the car just did a 4 wheel slide, to make matters worse I slammed my foot on the brake as hard as possible, the car went up the curb and hit the crash barrier, if that wasnt there we would have plunged into a lake!. Luckily my mate managed to get back into the window before impact as well!

I spent 800quid fixing him back up to new for the gearbox to go a month later (knocked out of alignement apparently by the crash). I drove the car off at the scrap yard, silly mistake as I could have fixed him up and sold him for more than the cost of a gearbox rebuild

Came around a corner in the snow. Wasn't traveling very fast (10mph) slid and hit a lampost right in the middle of the crossmember which just bent! Totalled it was gutted :-(

Not the worst but it did cause £900 mechanical damage and around £300 bodywork damage. This is what happens when your driving home, first day of the summer holidays, then the exhaust off a Merc Sprinter van 6 cars ahead decides to deposit it's exhaust backbox in your direction. I was in the other lane but it came directly for the front of my car, no time to react at all...
