Matt and satin car owners

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm considering respraying my car either matt or satin but can't decide which, could you please post any pic's of cars you have saying which is which and giving any tips or help.

Do I need to undercoat it or just key the origional paint?

How many coats and how long should I leave between them?

Exactly what type of paint do I need if I'm planning to use a spray gun and compressor?

Cheers

Mines satin black. Be aware that it never stays clean for long but the upside is minor scratches etc can be covered very quick with a quick balst of spraypaint!

if you are gonna spray it yourself, make sure you get a nice even coat otherwise it looks shit! I'm still covering up the effects of what the last person did when they sprayed mine (was dark blue) I'll post a pic up in min but my cars not exactly everyones cup of tea!

This is my matt painted car, the colour is 'shock green light' yes, the paint was pretty bad before lol. Don't know if you are going for the usual black or whatever.

All ideas (colours) welcome!

Matt Nato Green :D

Love that colour!

I'm thinking of buying a passenger door and tailgate from a scrappy's. So I will need help on how to respray too! I've heard that if you're going to do it by yourself, its quite difficult to remove the original paint. Is this true?

can't see it being difficult tbh. For a 100% perfect job, you'd want to go back to bare metal to start again anyway.

I'd use nitromors paint remover but DON'T try it until you know for sure it'll give the result you require.

matt paint is no different to normal gloss top coats. the nly time you would have a problem is if you painted it in primer, because primer is porous
