  • i know what you mean with the filler mate i do it myself, i tend to do it more when weather is a bit cold so it goes off quicker but i hate it when your just in the middle of a skim and it sets it pis

  • Can't wait to see it once you've got it all finished, paint job looks brilliant you've certainly got skills, are you bringing it to the Polo Show

cheers mate that sux you snowed in i may have the same problem in hull soon if the snow don't stop lol :( bad times

WOW mate just WOW!!! I've started getting some of the seam sealant off and its a ball ache I'm not going your route as it looks way too time consuming but I'm gonna try and smooth some of the uneeded lugs and seam seal but dude i read through your thread a year back and just awesome work mate!

cheers buddy. the sealant is a bit of a bitch to get off but use a heat gun and flat head screw driver and it makes it a bit easier.

so how far you going with the smoothing??? have you any pix of how your doing with it so far??

Not got any pix yet man only just started it and the weathers shite. What you doing about the scuttle tray? is it staying smooth if so wheres the ecu and wiper motor going? And wont rain just run down onto the engine? Didnt think of a heatgun just been using a flat head scewdriver. lol I'm only getting some of the sealant of either turret, plus I've found that theres loads of waxy like substance in the chassis arms and other places were the 6n bays sprayed with a wax seal over the paint?

i'm still undecided about what to do with the scuttle try i can't put the old one on as the bulkhead has gone now. as for the ecu, thats getting sold i have no need for it as my car is on carbs.

wiper motor i'm looking at different ones like a mk1 golf or a older polo maybe still thinking about that too.

yeah the insides of the legs and other places on the polo have waxoil on to stop rust build up and curroding its also a bitch to get off as i found out lol had shit loads of the stuff in my wheel arches and i had to melt it with the heat gun and wipe it off with tissue.

mike what did you use to polish and buff it?

i haven't done it yet mate lol

i wasn't sure from the pics. cos i'd an awful bother with mine getting a buff small enough in round.
