any difference in fibre glass to plasic welding?

i want to smooth the numberplate recess on the front bumper, but i dont see how fibre glass would work :S

plastic welding is stronger but you need exactly the same conpound of plastic to weld it together otherwise it wont stay in and fibreglass is really strong but dunno how you could smooth the number plate recess with it i want to do mine but i got a feeling if i did it with fibreglass it will fall out but i dunno i may give it a go.

to smooth the plate recess the best way is to plastic weld. i will be doing it to my front 16 bumper and have been told that the type of plastic is POLYPROPYLENE, which means you can use your old 8v bumper to fill the plate recess on the 16v bumper then plastic weld it, then a spot of filler and your done.

got the rear lights off ebay but they're for the mk5 they're called hella lights thanx for the comments

i got these door catches the other day nice little touch i thought

been fabricating my inside trims in leather here is the outcome

cheers mate my mate did his on his mk5 and i loved it so i thought i would do it on mine this is his from the back all painted just so you can see what it looks like all done

its the red one if you haven't guessed lol mine is the shed next to it lol

hes a painter too and we both did the work on it hes spraying it cream at the mo so will look even better when done

for primer to key to filler you finish off with some 120 or 180 i do it with 180 for a smoother finish then flat primer with 600 and then 800 wet n dry for the paint to key.

Its too damn cold to do bodywork in the winter, specially with me as I'm doing it on the drive, got the lines smoothed out and my rust sorted now just needs finishing with some light sand paper!

i know what you mean about the cold mate had to stop mine at mo coz its too cold and i can't spray my car in this so it's after crimbo now for the spray job, bit pissed off like coz i wanted it done before crimbo but looks like i'll have to wait now.

still needs a bit more filler work and preping to do might do some this week see how cold it is lol

hope to get pix of the paint job up on here after crimbo dunno when yet but soon i hope.

hope you get to do your car in the garage mate you can do alot more with a roof over your head out the cold with some light.

my car wont be finished for a while yet mate but can't wait till it is.
