done some more work to the old gal, getting near to putting engine all back together now.

i managed to get my hands on a gearbox in the end, all free :) and off a valver.

cleaned it and test fitted it so i could do a little wiring.

i welded up the hole in the floor

been sanding the block down for respraying, cleaning and fitting the spacer plate and flywheel.

and just a few of the engine quickly built up.

just doing some little bits that need doing for the engine.

started sanding alt and steering pump holder ready to polish.

crank seal plate has been cleaned and new seal fitted.

some more polishing on the engine mount to finish off.

been cleaning the steering pump and need to prep the crank pulley for powder coating.

gunna be painting the gearbox and engine block soon so will post an update as soon as these are done

lol i'm sorry i am running power steering, i need to keep some luxuries! i did think about running without but its not that much of an eyesore.

i just couldn't deal with keeping the powersteering lines, pump etc. I've a mk2 golf as a daily anywho so well used to the no power steering. TBH i never think of it. Trying to convince the gf to bin the power steering when she smoothes her vento bay this winter but she's not having it. We're looking into tucking the kit now.

The car weighs as much as a fart, if you need power steering you need to man up. try driving a lard rover without it.

alright guys, yeah the car will be going to shows as soon as its done but its gunna take a while as i'm still jobless and need to run a golf gti at the same time :(

still a bit of bodywork to do but have things stopping me getting on with it like flairing the front wings, i can't do these coz i need the wheels done first to get the perfect fitment.

as for the power steering, its something i didn't wanna get rid of coz i like it and i hate struggling parking and its just as much as a ball ache taking it off as it is to keep it. i know its a long drawn out project but times are hard at the min and i don't think rushing it is the best thing to do after spending so long on the car.

I can tell you know exactly what your doing when it comes to cars so no disrespect whatsoever, but do you know that the "pigstail" brake lines coming from the servo are an M.O.T Failure? Anyway on the positve side, what a fine example of a no expense/time spared motor, everything has been done to precision. Keep plodding on at a steady pace and don't rush to a finish ha. mint

i sprayed the engine block tonight and i'll be picking it up tomorrow so i'll post some pix when i get it back
