Whats made in 1974, cost £20 and doesn't have spot of rust on it....

I'm pretty sure if you flip the axle the car will go backwards in forward gears and forward in reverse gears  the proper way to do it will be with lowering blocks, if its anything like the old fords the axle will be on top of the springs.

doesn't matter how many are left as you now have a one of a kind one which makes it even rarer and more expensive (don't forget if you weigh it in you won't get much for it  )

Best leave the axle bee then

I'll have to do the most dreaded of things I think... join a Reliant forum!

You probably don't need to, me and my brother have actually had more Reliants than I've had polos :|

You realise if you'd have got a test on that and flogged it, you could have probably bought yourself quite a nice G40?

Yeah, some guy I was chatting to says decent ones will see around £2-3k.

But, this was never a money making venture, so not really fussed. Just want to put a decent engine in it and have some fun with it. It will be getting a full dip and some nice wheels so will look good once its done. We are hoping to build it on a shoe string and then sell it for at least what it stands us.

If you have any advise on what engines are worth putting in them I'm all ears....

1380 mini engine with a bmw k1100 head and t2 turbo should be able to reach 200 bhp... axle flips should be doable shoudl t they ? just do what the caddy boys do?

don't talk wet you tit

mini engines weigh 3 times more than most super bike engines and put out less power. plus these things run on what is basicaly a bike engine any way so the swap is fairly easy. if you need any proof then search youtube for some quailty bike engined kitten videos ;)

^^ but wheres teh fun in the bike engines as you say there are a few about... only recently are mini people fitting k1100 heads to minis so to see it in one of those thing will be awesome and with a turbo.... unbelievable

but you'd still get owned by a bike engined kittens, besides he's trying to do this on the cheap so i can't see him spending xxxxx amount on a suer tuned mini lump for it, but buying a bent bike for the engine can be very cheap 8-)

Caddys aren't rear drive

Yellow top 850cc out of a Rialto, 750cc box and diff. Port the head up and play with the carb (SU's are easy). It will move.

Reliant engines are lightweight, revvy, and for their size and age, rather powerful.

did you not read my post? if you flip a rwd axle over is make the car go backwards in forward gears because of the diff, just think about the wheels turning forward then visualise the axle turned over and how the wheels turn. the reason caddy's can do it is because the rear wheels aren't driven so they spin either way freely.

Stripped all the crap out of the back of it (side paneling, rear seats, rubbery mat things that were glued to the floor in a gay manor.

Also took the engine out, windscreen out and are getting ready to get the body off the car. Next step is prepping the shell until we can find a suitable engine!

Photo that I took today.

This has the potential to be amazing - LOL@trashing a legacy, I immagine the outrage if you spotted a reliant owner 'pick-uping' a MK1

Cant wait to see this thing drifting with a bike engine running, must way next to nothing though  Esp. with it all stripped out now! :)

I wouldn't say it was being built to drift. It will be fun to power slide around the industrial estate but I'd not go so far as to say its drifting. Fucking fast and the furious has made everyone think that if you have a rear wheel drive car you cannot take corners in a normal fashion but you must peel your tyres out to fuck and get as sideways as possible.

I'm not trying to discredit drifters and what they do cause it takes a lot talent to do. But it just so happens after that movie was made everyones decided RWD means drifting.

weld the diff up and drift that shit like a bedford Rascal 8-)

You should definately enter D1 with it. I mean imagine the looks on people's faces

Is it going to be going on the road?

Of course!

Awesome, thats some straight up David Copperfield shit y'all.

Looks fucking cool though man cant wait to see it all get going.

Needs a V8 tbh.

I like this mate, should be a quality project and a right laugh when its done. Top job so far, good luck with the engine hunt.

Micky looks right at home in there!

I knew i shoulda come to baltic today...footy wasnt all that!

Cant wait to see the beast in the flesh kam!
