yeah i have thought about this. i am going to see how bad it is before deciding, would like to keep it as an original G though.

so if someone else bought the car for the price it was advertised at or near enough, they would of had to spend another 1700 getting all the rust sorted out?

Re-shell if badly rotten. I think there was a guy on here stripping an original black G40 for the engine not so long ago. Might be worth trawling the " G40 breaking for spares" threads. You can pick up pretty tidy mk3 polos for a few hundred quid too.
