Was a cheap price dude, i paid £500 and got a £500 spray job if that makes sense, did all the body work before it went in so all them did was spray a bit of primer and blow over the red... its not as good as it would have been if i spent 3 grand but thats just obvious..... plus i do everything as cheap as i possibly can but the right way lol

may take you up on that dude, my mate is planning to put her bready on ebay for spares or repair so if i dont get the bits i need off her then i will be pm'ing you straight away!

:-D

So the roof lining has been cut made and fitted..... and abit more cutting and trimming...lol

But we got it in there in the end, only took 6 hours...... custom stuff eh....... who'd do it.

but it does look the mutts nuts.

It's perforated beetle lining in case you where wondering??

DSC_0002-11.jpg

DSC_0005-9.jpg

Then the rear windows went in. all tinted and shinny...... well until we covered them in fairy liquid to squeeze them in the car...lol

DSC_0012-7.jpg

then in went the screen

DSC_0010-6.jpg

once all that was in the temp roof went in, as the real one is still being trimmed

DSC_0013-5.jpg

then a slight wash down with the hose to get the marks off from the days work..

DSC_0016-3.jpg

still got a fair bit to do, But at least were water tight now.

just gotta get the starter on, so we can fire her up for the first time in 7 months...lol

love how your rebuilding this ground up katdog! proper minter, with no corners cut! :D

well nearly!

The roof lining was done for free so theres a bit at the back that wasnt sewn quite right so doesnt look proper pucker but I'm not complaining coz it was trimmed for freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :D

absolutely great :)

i can´t wait to restore my coupe, but it´ll be hard when i´m unable to drive my polo :D

great progress, keep us updated!

well done mate, its soooo cloose now!!

thanks guys.... was very tempted to just say stuff it I've had enough due to alot of arguements with my Pops lol

But I'm glad i stuck at it coz she is better than i thought she would be, i will let you know the total cost of the respray and everything else thats happened since i started it in July....... that will be interesting lol

Britax roof!

Why on earth did i sell mine :-(

How easy was it to fit? Actually, what car was it out of 1st?

I had one from a mini, the roof on them is pretty curved compared to the polo so the frame would've been a bit difficult to get in?

Its looking amazing though Kat, really is :)

  • Author

Yeah its a Britex... well actually i think mine is something beginning with T but is apparently the same company as Britex....

anyway i dont know what the frame is out of but the temporary roof is from a mini van that my dad got out a scrappy years ago!

this roof is a bit tight and dont actually think it would be waterproof at the front atm coz its so tight but the new roof that I'm waiting to get trimmed will be retro fitted by my pop so it is water tight lol

Ok so the MOT is at 2pm today so finigers crossed it will pass!

Had to make a few temporary fixes to get it MOTable, for a start its got my Hornet door mirrors on as the mk2 ones wont fit with the mk3 quarter light windows... plus i hated the big ugly things anyway.... so she doesnt look a bit odd with retro CHROME mirrors haha

Will let you all know how she does :D

has it passed????

  • Author

yes!!!

only problem is that I've found out that my speedo cable is shot and i have a leak either from the radiator or one of the hoses so am going to be popping over my mates tomorrow before her mk2 goes to the scrappy!

I hope that the mk2 speedo cable will fit the mk3 1.3??? :?
