Mk2 Gt Oldskool Openair Bready Project!

Featured Replies

Looks nice. Get a nice stainless exhaust with a tasteful standardish rear box and pipe and it will be awesome. Mk2 GT's are wicked ;)

Ok so last week i had yet another problem.... she died coming up to a round about and the battery was dead!!!

Got towed out of the way by my dad and bumped started her easy peasy....

SO.... I'm thinking either my battery is shot.... or my new stereo is draining the battery.... anyone help?!?!?

is the battery getting charged when you run it ?

i wouldnt off thought it would be your stereo

Is your alternator working properly?

had the same problem, changed the alternater belt, and battery and it has been fine since

Could be either the alternator or the battery, check the voltage while its running, if its 12v or below I'd suspect the alternator. If not swap out hte battery... your stereo would only drain the battery if it was constantly on while the engine is switched off.

Awesome mk2 btw :)

if your lucky the alternator might just need new brushes. its an easy swap, as they are only held in by a couple of screws. a stereo wouldnt drain a battery that quickly, but driving without a functioning alternator will drop voltage very quickly. I had a belt snap whilst driving home in the dark. In the time it took me to drive 4 miles home, the light output from my headlights halved!

Cool cheers guys!

Will test the voltage output to see if it's the alternator, I'm hoping it's just an old battery coz we don't know when it was put in the car as it came with the engine...

Thanks again guys. :D

epic pictures :)

tell me something about the car in the background plz... jaguar, isn´t it?

  • Author

yeah 1948 mk4 Jaguar, one of my pops motors :D

Car looks really smart. Nice little resto job you've done on it!

Cool new pics of your polo.

wow that looks amazing!! and coilovers to come sounds immense..!

Truly immense as ever, are you tempted to get a rear screen made without the heater element. I scraped mine off but it still leaves brown lines. A full stainless exhaust as discussed will only improve further. Home made coilovers or the new PhilJ ones?

Makes mine look like a pile of junk.

Well i just sprayed my back box with a can of silver that needed using up so looks alot cleaner than with the red over spray!

And coilovers are brand spankers from germany bought for £400 so thought Id give them ago seeing as they are a heck of alot cheaper than PhilJ :D

Saw this at Stonor Park a few weeks back... Mint is all i can say!

i seriously love this car, well done

Can't get over how shiny this badboy is!

Love everything about it! Keep it up
