Hi Kat, I have just spent 2 and a half hours reading through the whole thread start to finish.

I have to say i'm in awe. You have done everything that I imagine I want to do to my Julie, see below.

I have to be honest though and say that, imo, the Minilites would have looked awesome polished like the catellettes. Just my opinion, sorry!! :-(

Can I ask, I know it as a long time ago, but what did you do with the Crystal Rear Lights you had? And, hpw did you get the LED sidelights in the front indicators??

I noticed you come to Cornwall time to time, I live in Helston, so may see you on the road at some point??

Keep it up Kat, looks mazin!!

Thanks Ray!

I know what you mean about the minilites..... but they were 14's and I really like 15's atm but I do have my eye on a set of minilite look a likes so watch this space!

I sold my rear lights on ebay, weren't the style I was trying to get in the end so on the bay they went!

Yeah I'm hoping to move to Hayle within the next 2 years, lovely place! And a did some work experience in the seal sanctuary in Gweek..... would love to get a job there I tell you lol

And Julie is a lovely little example too 8-)

Can't argue with you, car looks awesome with what you have done. As far as living in Cornwall goes, wouldn't live anywhere else, love it!!

Good luck with everyfin, and hope you get your move ok..................no shows here tho 8-)

Take care hun

Seriously tidy car this! And a well deserved trophy today!

Congrats on the trophy Kat

Love this car, I still think it needs a German spec GT front badge and it would be perfect in my eyes.

Well done on the trophy, as above. Well deserved. :)

God thanks guys, i was so shocked to get a trophy... let alone joint with the Blue coupe!!

What does a german GT badge look like then??

This is the font, I'll find a pic of a badge and repot back.

Ah i think i know which one you mean, they are bigger than the one i have right?

Was it on the back of the blue coupe that got 3rd place too?

  • 3 weeks later...

as it happens i may have one of those mk2 gt badges lying around, il have a dig around

yeah I've got orignal german mk2 badge too, they do some cheap nock offs on ebay now though.

Cant beat made in germany embossed on the back though.

I can grab the part number if you need it for some random reason.

Cheers guys!!

Well a bit of an update.... I got 3 coilovers on today haha!!

The last one needs the bracket that holds the brake lines away from the wheel welded on and I have to help my pops lay our dinning room floor before he will weld it.....

I had better hurry and lay the damn floor of I'm gunna make it to Edition friday haha...

pics to follow :D

Here are the few pics i got today....

Old ones:

New ones:

And only rubbish pic of the front going on..... just one front one to go!

DSC_0176.jpg

What I have found is that the fronts are on the lowest setting and only 10mm lower that before......

So when the old man has welded the last one up and its fitted.... when hes not looking I'm gunna sneek off to my mates and take out the helper spring seeing as its pretty much completely compressed already!

So sadly for Edition it wont be as low as i would like..... but it will be one day very soon!

i like you found that they sat way too high with the helper springs. also the helper springs were fully compressed. couldn't be arsed taking them apart again so cut through them in situ.

did you also have a problem with the stock VW keeper nut of your old struts being a different thread pitch to the new coilover shock thread? we had to re-tap it to fit.

  • Author

Nah I wont just cut them off coz its only my dad that has tools like that and I don't want him to find out lol

And no everything fits perfect but that might be coz I changed all the suspension and legs and stuff for the mk3's so they might be different?

Ok so as you know I had 3 coilovers on the car on Monday....

I now have 4 woop!

I was supposed to be going to Edition today but came across a few parts that needed replacing and of course they all had to be ordered in...

So this morning me and the fella picked up all the bits al in 2 shakes of Buddy's tail (little black dog) the 4th was finally on today..

Then after a few minutes of suds and polish she is now looking like this... ready for Action tomorrow!
