Ok so i got a little bored today in this fab weather and gave my mate Tim James a call....

After leaving him for 5 minutes i came back to my car to see that he had also been a bit bored and did this:

anyway we got to what seemed to be a very good repair behind where the top spat pops onto the wing...

turns out they cudnt be bothered to pull out the initial dent and was damn luck we found it now as the beginnings of rust were starting to show...

then my dad cudnt resist helping out any longer and got stuck into sorting that dent out

spag bowl was calling my dad so back to just Timmay making sure the rest of the filler wasnt hiding anything else

then came the bit that Tim is a pro in.... paint work

.... ok so there are a few runs..... but he is a professional sprayer..... :huh: honest lol

so this will be the look for the polo the next few weeks... fun!

more to follow next week if the weathers good

Tim and laura popped over again yesterday to do some more to the side we had already done and to start the other side.....

the passenger side still needs more work and now the filler is off the drivers side we can see that theres a bit of straightening to do so a bit closer to full prep but still so far away...

she was there for moral support for Tim, and coz i hardly see her these days so is a good excuse to pop over lol

Decided i would take advantage of the sunny spells today and got cracking with the front end of the polo....

Firstly there was some straightening to do

Before i attacked it

and after

but then the sunny spells started turning rather wet so had to call it a day half way thru, did manage to put some red oxide on it until the next time i get my hands on the grinder lol

But looking at it properly I'm thinking it might be better to get a new genuine panel.... so am calling Doug at the local vw dealership tomoz afternoon..

SO here is how she stands atm and the real work hasnt even started yet!

I member reading up on this when you was doing the servo convertion!!! (saved all the pics on my comp for when i try doing a servo convertion to my mk1 :-D!! any chance could borrow your dad lol!!

hey a very easy engine conversion and its easier to swap the dash over than chop the wiring i did it to my polo coupe

true it is easier for the loom to swap the dash but theres still alot to modify to get the dash to sit in properly over the steering column and the pedal box is in a different place too.......

Its looking good dude! Look forward to coming over tomorrow and having a looksie.....

Ok so it was nice weather yesterday and i thought id give the front valence another go..... but Dad was away all day and got in real late so i got the car up on the stands before Dad left again and waited until today...

Luckily i wasnt solo this time and had a helping hand from my best bud who is completely and utterly new to working on cars... Kath!

Took a trip to Bournemouth in a shitty running polo today and left it somewhere where i thought it would be safe...

I came back to find it in some dudes garage (Coltech Classics) and he was doing this!

but then he finished off and it looks like this

i know its not the same colour atm but i will put some red oxide on it later to blend it more..... but at least its nice and smmmoooooooofff :)
