good news it seems....the chap who backed into me and then drove off up the road didnt realise that he had backed into me as the cars parked so closely together! RiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiGHT</dr.evil voice>

i know for a fact there was sufficient space for him to move out of his parking space without backing up!

well anyways, the chap has been spoken to by the police and he has passed on his insurance details to the officer who in turn has passed them to me!

so hopefully it can be sorted asap!

time being i found a white grille rail in the scrappy in good nick just needs cleaning! and i will fit my old grille for the time being to et it lookin a little better til its all sorted!

Christian

:D

Happy days boy!!!

but insurance companies are hard fuckin work dude, (i would know, still not had a penny off them for mine!) so keep hassleing them!!

happy days indeed, id be wary about putting the new bits on the car unless you have dated photographic evidence just in case they send a third person out to have a look at the car and see no apparnet damage

but rinse that sucker for all he's worth, he knows he hit you, standard

Yey :D

fingers crossed all will be well, i hope i dont have to initially lay out for my excess which is gonna cripple me if i do bein christmas and all!

anyone know whether it will happen or not, as it has in the past when it hasnt been my fault?

also i dont want to take my car to somewhere they recommend, i want the repairs done by someone i know! who did my custom bumper!

how difficult will this create things, as i know they are never simple and straight forward!

do i go and get a written quote for the intended work and pass that on? obviously all in due time i know!

Christian good to hear things are looking up, my sister was hit by a driver about 6 months ago and it was completely not her fault, but the driver of the other car was not claiming liability. So initially during the claim she had to pay her excess which i think was £350, until cctv footage and witnesses came forward to confirm who was at fault.

It was a long struggle with the insurance company to get the excess back and claimed off the guys insurance. An annoying process from what my sister said.

Not sure if the guy immediately admits fault then you wont have to pay the excess although I'm not sure!

I'm not sure my sister had a lot of choice in the matter of where it was gettin fixed.

One thing you could consider is if you have the guys details, mayby approach him about gettin repairs done outwith the insurers which gives you the best of both worlds, ie you both avoid insurers excess, premiums etc and you get to go to a trusted garage¬!

ps: not related to the question, i jsut realised HOW similar our avatars are haha! Pretty much the same styling mk3 and mk4, love it!!

Some insurers will listen to you if you approach them about using your own repairer. The drawbacks are that if they normally give you a courtesy car, you won't get that, and if the price goes higher than the original quote, then you will have to make up the difference. If you've already started your claim for the damage, its worth giving them a ring and asking them if you can do this.

Was sorry to hear about this Christian! hope it gets sorted soon mate
