Nope...a car doesn't require an anti-roll bar. Only evidence it was there is the original mounts at the back of the engine bay. We un-bolted it but couldn't extract it from the bay...so I cut a hoop off and pulled it out through the wheel arch.

My Mk3 is going to have no ARB on the front when I fit the sub-frame.

I did wonder about that when I had just done it christian but after phoning a few mot test centers they all said it is not a 'required' part for the vehicle to operate properly and the vehicle is deemed fit for the road even with it removed so all was cushty :)

Had the car mot'd in september a week before polo show and absolutely nothing was flagged let alone failed on so i was a happy bunny :-D

I know i didn't start this forum but do you need a new anti roll bar if your not gonna lower the car by more then say 60mm? Surely not as you can do that on springs (Just!!) well with shroter shocks

Couldn't tell you mate. When I found mine was rubbing i raised the suspension a bit to see how high id have to go before it would stop. I put the fronts up a good 25mm at least on the threads and it still caught under light braking so out came Tav's dremel :p

You may get away with it though. I think your engine size will be a contributing factor aswell as the dia. of the driveshafts will change. I've got a 1.4 16v and they aparently dont have the largest DS's either

As coilovers are not something i am mechanically able to fit myself would the zinc plated ones be O.K as i'm not really fussed about them coming up clean and surely they are still protected against corrosion and stuff? All i'm trying to say is are the zinc ones o.k if your not bothered about them looking mega clean? It'll sit low enough so you won't be able to see them anyway!
