There's no such thing really - depends what you're trying to do.

The quickest cars in street-legal drag race classes (e.g. Street Eliminator, UK Street Race) tend to use large turbos (often 2) and plenty of nitrous to help them spool up. However, the Top Fuel dragsters use dirty great superchargers and go a shitload faster.

With the same amount of boost pressure provided by either device, the Turbo wins as the engine isn't having to spend its energy on turning a supercharger.

If both devices are making the same power at the same RPM, the supercharger wins as it doesn't have to spool, and generally provides more boost lower in the rev-range.

I know neither could ever be objectively classed as "better". It depends on what you're using the engine for, and how you want it to drive.

I'm a hardcore supercharger fanboy as it suits what I want out of a car, but I'd never say superchargers are objectively better than turbos, and I'd never disagree or argue with someone who prefers turbos. It's like arguing which colour of chocolate is best. There is no "better", either system can be "best", but then it comes down to budget.

The reasons I like S/C:

Only one RPM to worry about

To me they feel easier to hold on the edge

The direct on/off feel to the pedal

Sound like witchcraft

This forum aside, it's quite rare to see big boosting S/C on the road in this country

I'm sure there are equally valid reasons for going turbo as I don't expect everyone to like the sound of superchargers, and I bet there are people with driving styles more suited to turbos etc.
