Need to ask the same question,

I picked up a set of pretty tatty and rusty VW Steelies..

Can i use the same process?

bump - anyone?

Sorry for delay in replies, i dont check this thread often  i sometimes forget i even made it

They were alloys yes, Atiwie 13x7 ET20 if anyone was wondering

You can polish steel yes, I've never done it so I'm not 100% sure if its the same process, but i imagine so. You do have to keep on applying a protection to polished steel though, quite often I've read, as steel will rust quickly. You can spray a laquer onto steel, but it will dull the polished finish :-(

awesome work.....time for 80 hours of work on the classics i think

Classics wont/shouldnt take you 80 hours dude, i polished inside the little circles that run around the wheel, thats where a large portion of time went on it

I refurbed a set of alley cats last year, mirror polished dish and spokes, by hand, and they only took about 40 hours - max

Went from this

Good luck anyway, and be prepaired for sore fingers :-(:-p

Oh and post up some before and after pics when youve done

cool, even better if it doesnt take that long....I'm lazy so the faster the better lol.

i will post up pics as soon as...cheers for the advice

amazing thread, I'm doing my wheels by this guide :)

did you laquer the polished lip?

(sorry i only read you are 1st post)

Nope, laquer makes the polished effect look duller

As with the guy before, get some before and after pics up when youve finished 8-)

I'm manning up, i was going to give mine to a cool company called rainbow to polish my teardrops. However, I've now decided to go at it myself.

Just need to buy some more sandpaper and this kit....

(one at the bottom)

I'll start a thread for them, should have them stripped tomorrow. Will post before n afters in here too for you walshc

Good boy :-D

You'll get a special warm fealing inside, close to your penis, when you look at the wheels on your car once finished, because you did them yourself rather than getting them done for you :-)

**warm fealings in penis vicinity are subject to how much of a freak you are, and can not be guarenteed by this guide or members taking part in guided process**

i love you walshc !

Is it a warm feeling like when you see megan fox leaning over that engine in transformers????

Also is a wet patch to be expected too????.It might be just me tho ;)

Thats to be expected Nay, 99% of everyone almost does :-D

I've not seen transformers :-( but slight love juice leakage is possible, yes

Disbelief!!!! How have you NOT seen Transformers?

That film is a life changing thing, Go watch it!! (and the 2nd one is just as amazing so watch that too)

Don't think I'm as 'special' as you Craig, as I don't get no warm feelings when i look at my car :( and i did that all by myself.

Any recommendations on a more savage paint stripper? Got nitromors and Wickes own and there both useless on the paint on these teardrops

Get the clearcoat off piece of piss. But the rest is like indestructible. That much so I'm getting the sandpaper out tomorrow to remove the rest of the paint.

Might be powdercoated???? i had to sandpaper them alley cats i posted up there, because nitromoors wouldnt work, they're powdercoated i think :?

Nitromoors is probs the best paint/varnish stripper I've used so far anyway

Noooo!! warm feelings only occur with wheels dude, cars are just cars, but wheels.... well, its like looking at men walking past, you see men and just think 'oh, nice' but then you catch a glimpse of a tidy packaged bulge standing proud and its like - 'sweet lord baby jesus!'

**apply 'women' and 'boobs' in place of 'men' and 'bulge' if youre that way inclined**

As for transformers, i like to leave things that i liked when i was young, back there in my younger, more diluted life, through fear of not liking it anymore. My past joys of playing with my sisters barbie dolls is a prime example, i dont feel right taking them shopping anymore

lmao!

But transformers is epic, nothing alike what it was 'when you where young'

I mean, did it have Megan Fox in back then?

Or, for you. all the army men n whatnot lmao!

Good point :-D

Ill watch it when i next get the chance

If i dont like it, well then woe betide you, sunshine

You will like it. If you don't then theres clearly something wrong with you lol.

But isnt that like saying theres something wrong with you if you dont like the storyboard of Debbie does Dallas???

Shush ok

Its just one of those films, if you like cars and still have a soft spot for toys and whatnot, you will like it.

If you like cool stuff, explosions and battles and car chases you will like it

If you think Megan Fox is one amazingly hot chick, you will like it.

If you have no interest in the above you will still probably like it

I got warm tingly feelings throughout the film, at various different scenes, and not all of them had Megan Fox in :unibrow:

Is bumblebee in it? :-D

I might bring my yellow beetle into my flat so we can watch it together  will be tricky getting a car up the stairs though???

Maybe i'll just watch it with the little yellow beetle model I've got? 8-)

Bumblebee - YAY!!

Its not a beetle I'm afraid :(

No Beetle??!!! :-o well that isnt going to be very good at all, is it?:lol:

My brother is going to ask someone at work to lend him the film

PS, teaser pics SUCK ASS!!! :-p wheres the rest of them? :-)

Still covered in paint, had like 20 mins before work to try that tool out so only managed to get one wheel part done.

Tomorroww shall see more updates
