broken strut? please please help

dropped car by 30mm today, the circlip on the rear was rusty, so is the rear srtut, when got car off the jack the circlip snapped and the strut and spring went up and was resting on the bracket that holds the parcel shelf. i went out and got a new circlip, cleaned the strut up etc it was fine for about ten mins and then the same happened again. do i need a new strut or is it the spring or maybe a simpler solution ? please help, its undrviable and i need car for work, its a 1.4 5dr 6n2
