i serviced my car inc filters, cam belt oil few bulbs and anti freez and i paid the grand tottalof 28 quid!!

halfrauds are alright meh. they sell the stuff that i have needed whenever i have needed it e.g. speaker wire, wiring kit, fuses etc. Prices are okayish but you expect them to be expensive becuase they are not a dedicated online shop.

Only bad thing i have to say about them is Bikehut. Took my mtb there to get fixed and they guy said that they wouldn't fix because it only had one brake -_-. I was like rofl, ill do it myself then.

i stupidly bought a tub of body filler from there, when a few days later i saw the exact same size tub and everything in screwfix direct for like half the price

they were pretty useless no help in finding paint, the book for oil filters for cars was gone so we had to guess basically and things just seem excessive compared to the independant store round the corner =/

i work for them... i am actull a cycles specialist but i no more than half the people downstairs lol.. at my store there is some awsome guys there that no alot... 2 of them being ex mechanics and one of them was a engineer for the marines lol... jsut working at halfords to get some extra money...

they actully do some ok stuff... the service paerts on trade card and cleaning products are top!!!

oh and we are exelent in cycles :D lol

In my local halford or should i say halfords, because theirs two near me.

One sells items cheaper than the other.

Last week they had some 6x9 speakers for 99.99 and in the other some they had the exact same speakers for 49.99. Whats all that about?

Its not the only thing either, it was same with a car stero, DAB and everything £299.99, went in the other halfords an it was 149.99.

But overall in my opinion, come stuff is quite expensive and is not good quality but i got a pair of nice wheels from their 8-).

ahh good good. just two more and you'll be laughing :lol:

our local halfrauds, is shutting all the local shops wanted to buy some spray paint today went to all out local car shops and their all closed down had to go to halfords to buy over stuff...one guy who works there is a decent lad he has a mark 2 polo slammed and he said to go elsewhere to get locking wheels nuts cause they are a rip off.

Tommy.

about the pries being different... did you ask the staff?? its supposed to be the case that whatever price head office put on the computers, thats the price they sell for unless damaged etc...

i know some chain stores can vary however, because of competition close by. for example, a jjb spots store next to a golf pro shop should really have low prices to compete with the pro shop....

Ah that might be it, theirs like a motorshop just around the corner that sell stuff alot cheaper. This might be why. Only the two items tho :?.

Too right, I've seen some for quite cheap on ebay. Take alook you might find a bargain :-).

ye si wan tot get aq job there wehn I'm sixteen . but most the people who work there seem abit gormly and the bike people cant build bikes lol but it is a good shop and yes getting a trade card is good , my friend work at one in a place called wizbeach and eveyone who works there apart form him have a trade acount

Wisbeach? thats well near me! I'll have to check it out when i'm passing next!

Can't be as bad as the one near me. Apart from the sexy bit of stuff on the till, they're all braindead! I wanted a price on 1 alloy wheel and tyre as i wrecked one 'meeting' a kerb! Asked the manager, he sent over a lobotomised gibbon who forgot what i wanted after 5 seconds and then when he tried to add the 2 prices together, took him 5 whole minutes!. My mate who was with me told him the answer but he still had to work it out, with proper sums on paper as well! I got a momo gearknob from there for free but thats a different story!

Overall, ok for little bits but totally crap for everything else.

And how do you get a trade card?

Was it outside with the free screenwash? ;)

I used to work for them. They are over priced on most things, but as others have said are open at very good times if you are stuck for some thing.

would that be the jvc dab stereo ?

as one branch has it for 299 and the other 239 and the net was 149 neither would give it me for the web 149 unless I went home and reserved one online :? but still a bangin deal at 149 8-)

and their parts system does not like my polo as according to the computer they sell nothing for my polo :? but the trade card for tools is useful a shame they cancel any offers includeing reductions when you use a trade card though :(

Yes lol that was the stero. JVC DAB, i was going to buy it, but they said it was out of stock. and i didnt want to pay the 299 for it from the other shop, so in the end i just kept my own. Do you know if the stero on the net is still 149. ?

Alritey, Unfortunately I gotta put in some slave labour at my local halfords whilst I'm at college. Work in the bikehut, although know more about parts dept than the folk that work on there.

vwmk3jon, U gotta either show proof that your in the motortrade (payslip or some sort of qualification)

Gotta say, pretty good for trade prices, u can get paint on trade now!!

HAHA!! free screenwash! What a dumbass place to keep it!

it was on sunday 8-)

if you reserve it online at the other branch it will be 149 :-D

I to have noticed different prices at different stores!

Still some bargins to be had on the clearance stands!!!! I pop in quite often on my way home.....

Staff are usually friendly but slow! Most are there part time making that extra buck or two....

Bolly

I have a trade card, i only ever buy paint, oil and cleaning stuff.

I've also got a tool kit and it was really good!

I find they where cheeper for one filter (cant remember if it was air or oil) n my local motorfactors was cheeper on the other

But sometimes there really cheep like when you get 4 spark plugs n 2 oil filters for the price of the cheapest oil filter! dim girl was on the till n it was the day after the new till system was put in!! result!

WHICH STORE?

i needed a terminal screwdriver for some reason and after finding one, i searched for a member of staff to retreive it out the cabinet and only finding a chav kid asnd this is honestly what happened

chav kid : whcih one do you want

me: the small insulated terminal screwdriver

(blank look from the chav kids face)

me :the red one

(still a blank look from his face)

Me: that one (pointing to it)

Chav kid: oh the expensive flathead

i was like ok whatever just go

i was just wondering what everyone thinks of their local halfords, and do any of you work for them?

i work in a south wales branch part time and i like it tbh. the people i work with are great and its a laff. but I've also had experience of other stores and the people seem clueless. i have 3 cosworth owners who work in my store so they are forever talking about boost gauges ect, and they are really helpful and have a good car knowledge.

the impression i get from most people here is halfords is crap, is that the case? lol just interested......

i work for halfords in croydon and i think it ok its how i came about gettin my '90 saloon from a m8 here it aint all bad if u work full tym u hav a good chance to get to kno customers with more vw's which is good for gettin cheap parts lol
