I think you'd be surprised by the insurance for a Golf GTI 8v - I'm looking at doing a part ex for one at the moment and it's £400 more than I'm paying at the moment for the 1.3, so it's only going to be £900 fully comp for a Mk2 GTI at 18. Post code probably helps though :lol:

Air con, remote central locking, electric windows, ABS etc can all be found on GTIs!

Also, I would recommend the 1.6 Sport Ibiza mk3. It comes standard with climate control and alloys etc. The benefit being group 9 insurance and 100bhp...not bad.
