door cards n mirror switch

Has anyone swapped over the door cards from a 6n0 mk4 to the 6n2 2001 door cards. I am trying but i may have a problem with the mirror switch, the wiring is different. What do think? I tried to use a mini drill to grind a bigger opening for the older original switch, but the bigger space needed has eaten into the space where the door handle goes. Will need to fit the newer type switch.

I have got the sales brochure for the 6n1 (1998) model,the one after mine, it shows the newer style mirror switch i need, I've also got a haynes manual for the polo upto 1998 and i checked the wiring diagram for the newer style switch and it appears to be the same as the wiring for the older style switch (mine) so........ that should mean that there is a newer style switch which will plug straight into my wiring connector, is this so, can you help me pleeeeeeeeeeze.

Sorry to be long winded, but its been drivin me mad.

I'm hoping some other crazy guys have done what i'm wanting to do.
