The Corrado VR6 - update (again) 02/06/08

Featured Replies

i also got a VR6 corrado, Mine's a classic green pearl STORM. i have had it for over 2 years now, and spent about 3500 on the engine alone last year, having it rebuilt, ported, polished, lightened and balanced, and using only genuine VW parts (hence the price tag, lol)

I love raddo's and will NEVER sell mine. Agree with stupid fuel prices comments, but the burble of the 6 pot more than makes up for it. I dont even get to drive it anymore, its now the missus's work hack after she sold her Cooper S.

I got my 1st raddo VR6 when i was 18 and a half, and paid over £2200 a year for the insurance - but, i was the only one of my mates who actually had a fast car, lol, they were all still in nova's and festa's lol. And i've never looked back. I got 5 years no claims now, and I'm 22, and my insurance is £600.00 a year fully comp, with an agreed value of £8500.oo on it. Not bad i think?

looks awesome dude, bet the powers addictive too when you can afford fuel :)

Hahaha, somewhat! Fuel is a bit dear.. but boy is it worth it sometimes. Open the floodgates and she vanishes into the distance :)

Your favourite bridge?

But of course! I quite like it for taking photos.. bit different from the usual suburban sprawl.

Heard he's fitting a fake nitrous purge kit next...

Well.. you've got to really.. along with the fake dump valve and the flamer kit... INIT!

looking good fella. new rims and your sorted.

how you finding the handling on the weitecs?? mine drives so well on them.

can't beat vr for noise.

i love my rado almost as much as the polo 8-)

Agreed mate.. problem is that i'd realistically have to set aside about a grand for some nice wheels, tyres and correct wheel hardware. At the moment.. that ain't gonna happen! To be honest, I really like the speedlines for a standard wheel!

The weitecs are great. They're stiff enough, but not TOO much to detract from the graceful ride of the car. I've not really had much of a chance to put her through her paces yes as the weather has been soooo bad. Roll on summer I say! 8-)

Have you done any other suspension mods? Not sure if strut braces/ARBs make a huge difference, although I know a few (EXPENSIVE) bits are around.

I really do enjoy cruising about in the 'rado. So understated yet so smoothly powerful. I'm guessing that's why you love yours too!

Jesus.. she must run sweetly then by the sounds of it. A VR6 at 18 sounds CRAZY. I don't think I was old enough then to even be allowed near one. Having said that.. I only passed my test when I was 19, so I'm just over my 2 years driving and 2 years no claims. Insurance has hit me with 1k.. but inclusive of minor mods etc. Wish I could be fully comp though!

Oh yeah.. and just because sometimes it's a bit TOO comfortable and quiet......

Looking vaguely like its meant to be there...

hmmm maybe the polo boys with bmc's created me chav un-envy.

5 cylinders rock 4ya info --> hows your 2nd vehicle going?

them filters give a immense raw dont they?....love the sound.

For a minute I actually thought it was 5 cylinders... then I realised it was an optical illusion caused be me reading that post, my mind subconsciouscly counting 5, and the aftermath of a rather drunken night last night... 5 cylinders do rock, I mean you ever drove a car with a Volvo T5 in it? Well me neither, dad wont even let me park it. Whats your plans for the VR6?

nice one josh... bet it sounds immense

colour code your rocker cover (Y)

What you reckon to the BMC dude, i'v got the Carbonio....love it but wanted some oppinions on the BMC.

Got a slightly different set up to you where the canister is much lower down.....supposedly different positions give different responses.

noice!

how she sound now?

Ridiculous, my favorite 'Rado colour too 8-)

Yeah.. i was specifically referring to stuey and alex's VW Santana.. just to take the piss ;)

5CL volvo lumps are rather good. The 2.3 T5 is a superb engine, by anyones standards!

Working on it boyo! Just cleaned up the spare i bought. Not sure what to do with it though. Red VR6 DOHC and then make the vw bit blue and white?!

Mmm.. I read about this. Apparently they RRd a VR with a BMC with no cold air feed and then again with no headlight in front of it. The same results were achieved on the RR.... apparently. I was thinking about getting rid of the charcoal can and routing the cold air feed down there. Or maybe just fab'in up some kind of headshield for the front section.

The BMC is quite clearly the dogs danglies.. but I've never seen/felt/heard/used a carbonio.. so I couldn't comment really!

noice!

Like a bat outta hell! Has to be heard to be believed mate!

as for the rocker cover... do the whole thing same blue as you car then jsut have all the writing and vw basge white ;)

mate has one on his mk2 vr

I'm gunna need to see hard evidence that these make a enough of a difference before i crack my wallet.

Too many stories floating around of not enough go to warrant the outlay.

Josh --> you need to change the sub title to: Pop goes the weasle or is that pop goes the handle?
