6n Steering Wheel with airbag alternatives?

Ok not been able to get the definative answer through searching so i thought i'd ask direct.

I've got a 98 6n polo that has the standard airbag steering wheel. I'd like to update this with something a little chunkier and well, just less plain.

I've looked at the MK3 golf VR6 leather steering wheels that look identical in design, but i'd want to know that they will a) fit the steering column ie same splines etc, and b) the airbag will connect and work should the worse happen.

Are there any others later polo/golf/beetles etc that would fit and work? i'd ideally like a 3 spoke off a mk4 golf but again i'd like to think that the airbag would work!
