right well i'm at a dilemma, i've just ordered a brand new Weber 36 TLP for 163 quid delivered, but I'm wondering if its even worth it, should i just pay to get the engine converted grr

been offered these babies for 325 everythings brand new, inlet manifolds for these are around 140 and ill be able to fit them to either the 1.5 or the 1.6 gti and means the conversion to the gti lump will be ten times easier as i wont have to bother fitting the injection and fuel related tat

twin 40 weber dhla's, 25mm trumpets, 100mm filters, weber throttle linkage, twin cable + pedal adaptor, turbo reg and pressure reg

so its either 160 on a new weber 36 tla, 450 odd not including RR and setup for the twin 40s.

arghhhhhhhh decisions decisions, but those twin 40s look th e sex as with them being new i probably wont lose much when if i was to sell them at a later date

My mates just finished putting a 2L bottom on his 8v mk2 golf and that'll be running 40's, it was a beast before, so should be interesting to see what difference the longer stroke bottom end has made.

We were supposed to be going to the rolling road to get a mates webers set up on his Nova SR tomorrow.. unfortunately he mangled the manifold getting it on the trailer, so its fix the car tomorrow instead. Should be a weapon once its sorted.

Only downside to twin side draughts is the regular trips to the petrol station

Less wires is definitely a good thing and it makes the gti lump conversion ten times easier, and like you said the sound of twin dellortos is something else, and they would suit the cammed and ported gti lump i have. It will be interesting to know what your mates golf will be putting out, did he had the 40s on before? id imagine it would be somewhere around 150-160? or is he aiming for more?

and nova sr on carbs i want pics NOW

trust you to want a trumpet at full length, they are all the piccies i have, I'm just waiting for find out the choke, venturi and jet sizes so i can find out what ill need to my application

and yessssssss that noise is mint, that lil nova looks pretty rude to and the guy gives it beans into the s bend, have you got your setup yet or just gonna stick your lump on injection first when the engine thats in there goes kabooom

well been stripped a few bits off beena today chrome mirrors, doors, boot, got a few bits and pieces to remove from engine tomorrow if i get time, 22.2mm MC/16v servo, all the chrome engine bits, piperx induction kit, inlet manifold is coming off so i can get the exhaust and 4 branch off. depending on time I'm gonna whip the radiator and other ancilliarly bits off so I'm just left with a bolted in engine block and box.

oh and chin splitter also came off beena, shall be getting cleaned up and will end up on the muppet when i get some more cable ties

man if i had my car on the road id be over there in a flash. as for the doors i want to paint them and get em on the muppet i think, boot lids deffo going on el muppet tho as the green un has a lil bit of surface rust and needs the holes welding up for the boot badges, I'm going to have to repaint most of it anyway so might as well use a mint un from the start.

Are you painting them yourself? just use 600 to get them flat, then 800 to smooth out a bit

Take that advice at your own risk though I'm not an expert

undecided as to whether or not I'm gonna paint them or not myself, but ill deffo be doing my own prep-work.

few other surface rust spots on the shell will need taking back to metal and sorting out so may get a quote of a bodyshop in derby who gave chaz some spot on prices for getting some wings and doors resprayed, i know a top geezer in salford do who painted my rear quarter for pittance so will pay him a visit and see what he says too.

i have got some 600 grit but ill wait until i get prepmaster flashs expert opinion :p

My mates golf if yet to be dyno'd.. vid here..

Its effectively an 1800 head on a 2L block ported and polished head and matched inlet, piper cam and pulley, ashley exhaust system. He's hoping for like you say around the 150 mark, but i think he's chuffed with it as it is, although he's gotta bed the lump in he reckons it pulls like a beast low down (hasn't had it much higher than 3-4K yet). He did run 40's on the 1800 with the gasflowed head, cam and exhaust sys, but decided to do the 2L bottom end before he even had it on the rollers

As for the Nova got to work on that yesterday..

Broken manifold after the second section, he managed to twist it all a fair amount!

It'll hopefully be going to T&M in Colchester next friday to be set up, its spluttering fuel out of one of the chokes pretty bad atm.
