what handbrake cables do you use again for the rear disc convertion for the mk3

anyone got some pics of how they fitted them 2.

No pics, but i think the most popular choice is an MKII rocco cable, cut to length, with a solderless nipple

buy the cable adapters from german eBay. save yourself a lot of messing about

well that confused me as i was told to go with mk2 golf cables

no off the shelf ones fit, you can probably use mk2 golf, mk3 golf, scirocco ones etc... they all have to be modified though. Or by the sounds of what youngprodigy says you can buy pre-modified ones from ebay.de

not premodified, its a sleeve you put on the end of the caliper so you can just use your old drum cables

Rite i have a small problem with my handbrake cables is there something I'm missing coz to me the fucking things are to short!!

i haven't got the rest of the details on the conversion but if there not reaching you may have to adjust where the cable brackets are or something

try turning the mounting bracket from the inside of the axle - onto the bottom of it and flip it round 180degrees so that the cable holding bit is facing the back of the car

cheers dude i will have to try that i did think of it but then i thought what if the cable from the handbrake is to short?

i wish there was a "how to" on this convertion i spent all of yesturday searching the site to no joy

I used Golf mk2 cables then followed this guy's instructions to attach a nipple to the shortened cable.

i can confirm that is how it's done mate! move the brackets around which holds the cable.

is this how you mean i hope it works, do you know if i need to fit a 22mm master cylinder?

yer that's how it's done. I've got a guide for this but it's in getman and I haven't had the chance to go through it yet and re write it. if you don't mind- can I twok your photos so I can do a full guide and have it put in the FAQ.

I can imagine you may need a bigger M/C yes. easy to get ahold of tho mate.

i dont know the exact vehicle no- but i know i got my aluminium 22mm M/C from a seat van- the same one thats 6n shaped.

and as a quick note- although thats how the germans have done it- theres fitted perfect and flush- dont want you to wear the cable out if its not in the caliper properly!!!!

if it wont sit flush- may have to drill new holes on the axle for the brackets to get it to sit correctly- seams strange that urs dont fit 100%
