CAN WE STOP WRECKING THREADS

Featured Replies

To the attention of all the Moderators of this site - its becoming increasingly common now that threads are turning into peoples own personal battle grounds for arguments.

Having been a member of this club for over 6years now I'm watching the steady decline of this site because people have vendettas against others and use other peoples threads to start argueing about who knows best.

I'm not the only one who is sick of it and having spoken to many people at Edition38, players and westside shows this year - as soon as "clubpolo" is mentioned people are saying its full of dicks and kids who need to grow up - FFS, its a sad state of affairs when so many people are saying it - i now think twice about asking if people are on here.

Next time I see someone doing something stupid i'll just leave them to get on with it. When you can't point out that something could easily turn a car into a fireball in the event of a minor collision without being accused of criticising peoples work or having people bitching at you or trying to prove you wrong, you really have to question peoples motives. Maybe they want people driving dangerous cars? :?

I thought they were joking when they said they'd make this an actual thread!

Agree with Guy though, behind the wing was a stupid idea, but how it turned into an argument, I have no idea! Find a home for the pump in the scuttle, and if the pump won't pull/push the fuel, get a new pump!

its not the pointing out thats the problem! its the fights people have to start because they have to argue - they have to hate, they have to be number 1 i am the best listen to me. people just cant stop - and i think some people just do it to argue with certain people like they have to prove a point

Yup- build threads generally are shite now, full of people chatting shit, not actually talking about building Polos.

I tried a few months ago to clean up alot of the threads, but gave up, as they just get full of shit just a fast.

Everyone knows best on the internet though

I agree, there are quite a few 'dicks' on this site, mostly stupid scene kids that need to grow up. There bitching is ruining CP for the rest of us, and everything can be an argument on here. Theres nothing wrong with a bit of constructive criticism though, but some people just cant take it. If you cant take criticism, delete your build thread. Simples.

Edition 38 saying another forum is full of dicks though...... Thats Rich! (sorry, but had to be said  )

Was gonna say?! Is '38 not just full of scene kids?!

i never said they were from edition38 - they were people i spoke to at edition38.

i did delete my build thread - but i did it before it was wrecked - but it was the reason behind it

I fucking love it how into it everyone gets haha!

Most people jus repost stuff they've read thinking its correct with no actual experience

The best thing you can do is use the report button and we will remove any troublesome posts.

I would ask what members would like us to do about it. As Yoof said he's already deleted out a load of crap, warned people and it still happens.

So the next step is banning people maybe for 3 days or permanently. Would members support this as what normally happened in the past is their mates moan about the person being banned, say we are being too strict and generally kick up a huge fuss.

People really need to think before clicking post. Does this add anything constructive to the discussion or could it be taken the wrong way. If it does the either don't post it or re-write it.

what do you do, thats the main problem isnt it - but there's no deterrent for them to not do it so something needs to be in place (whatever it may be) to at least deter them from doing it.

but again - where do you draw the line as whats constructive and whats not - the thread i posted a link to - that was out of hand - that was 2 pages of mess.

I'm glad thats its been brought to peoples attention anyway - at least people will think about it before they start going on the rampage in future.

I dont post in many build threads as i know it will be taken the wrong way and what i say wont be taken well and thrown back down my throat regardless of what it is - hence why i stay out, maybe other people should do the same thing

I think banning would be a good solution. But it would have to be a stepped process, rather than an outright ban straight away. That would give people a chance (or a few) to change there ways. Then BOOM! gone.

Oops, my bad. I actually was one of the people you talked to at edition  Wondered where your build thread had gone :-( . I was following it.

could let whoevers build thread it is have the ability to delete posts or something. Saves you a job, and if we wanna discuss things it can be deleted after by the person whos thread it is if they want to

Now that is a very good idea

it is, but i suppose then everybody will delete the comments they dont like instead of being open to ideas + alienate themselves against people- i suppose a trial of this may prove if it works or not - lets give it a go!

OR! is there a way of selecting posts to hide them and display a reason for doing it?

I've said it before lol, doubt it will happen but itd be cool. Then we can keep the bits we want which may not seem relevant to randomers but when we know what we are talking about ect and then kiz can smooth his build thread

Its worth a try i spose

I don't think its technically possible.. but I'll look into it :)

Gotta be time for the ban stick, it seems like the same people getting warned again and again? If so warnings blatantly ain't working

I don't bother much with the build thread section now because its watered down with so much shit being chatted in it. Maybe its time to do as has been mentioned before and have it so only the OP can post in it, but that would be a shame because it is good to get feedback and motivation as you go. Maybe rather than full bans people spamming the shit out of it could have restrictions put on them preventing them from posting in that section for an amount of time?

I don't know why you pretend this forum is any different to others kiz,

Any established forum with moderately active members is the same, people debating. Its when people start getting personal, dismissive and "big headed" that the debate turns to a bitching contest. The funny thing was Simon had said he was moving it, and it carried on.

People just can't help but stick their nose in, even if its already been said. If someone doesn't agree with you, then they don't agree with you, who's to say anyone is right? there's no need to carry on, and on , and on, or get upset and throw your dummy out like you run the show.

i'll admit i can be a culprit at times, but so can most in this thread, trying to pretend your not is just gonna stretch the bitching out further.

Peace and love as always

It carried on because people were still trying to say that it would be ok to run it there. As I said in that thread, what if some newbie comes on and reads comments by two long standing members saying that it would be ok to do so and then goes out and does it? Would you take responsibility if he lost his car or worse through taking your word as gospel?

All the way through that I said the main issue with that placement was the danger it posed in the event of a collision. It would of been pure stupidity not to point this out to Si but people saw this as a excuse to try and prove they know best (and have a pop at the mods) and now his threads been deleted

like i run the show?

Well I'm sorry for speaking out against people who are wrecking it for others

i want this club to get recognition for being a helpful forum not get labelled with being a place to be keyboard warriors.

and that post was one of the most hypocritical things I've ever read.

The post wasn't aimed at just you, not everything is just about you!

It was a general sweep, and i even said i'm a culprit, like most in this thread.

If we learn to state our opinion once, and not let others opinions get you wound up, then it will run smoothly.

Posting again and again about the same thing even though its already been said just makes the fire grow.

It isn't hard to get on and stop being little girls, its not like this when people are together at a show, its just words on a screen.

Read ClubG40- Most of the members are also on here (Admin, Mods, and paid up club members), there's much less shite, much more constructive posting, and everyone on the forum is willing to help each other.

The average age is probably nearer 30, rather than 20, which also helps.

Aye, but its a much smaller site, no?
