G40 Suspension Wanted.

Featured Replies

Hello, I am inquiring about G40 suspension (wishbones, anti roll bars, shocks & springs)

Does anyone know of a G40 in a scrap yard or being broken? I need the full front suspension and rear suspension isnt as important.

So, Can anyone help?

So the anti roll bars are the same as what is on a GT?

I wanted to lower my mk3 coupe but was advised to get g40 suspension cause it would handle alot better!

So how would I get it to handle like a g40? Is there much difference between GT and G40 suspension?

g40s have different tcas and steering arms - they have inner rose joints.

suspension is lower and harder - you'll get that with any lowering kit though.

oops, i didnt know that!

Main differences are the shocks + springs, track control arms (rose jointed) and steering arms (rose jointed).

The standard G40 springs + shocks aren't amazing and I am not sure if they are still available from VW? Sure someone said that some of the parts were obsolete now. Be nice to find out if this were the case.

TCA's and steering arms are about £70 each from VW. So if you want to convert to the G40 items you'll need to budget £280 for the set.

If you want to retain sensible ride height and improve your shocks + springs I'd look at the Koni adjustable damping kit. You'll find it on Awesome GTi's website for about £280.

All Mk3's have the same front ARB. GT/G40 have same rear beam as standard.

Well, I don't want to slam it to the floor and have no suspension travel - what would be the best way to make the handeling better? It rolls and understeers alot - what is the best way to do it?

konis are good - there are two types - yellow (expensive) and reds (expensive but not as bad)
