Can your wheels (usually nearside front) get clamped if you have virtually no arch gap???

If not would they tow your car away and how??

when i was at school, i use to park my car in the teachers car park got told they was gonna clamp but the could get it on haha, that was with my mk4, coilies all way down :p

then you could just take all the studs off the one wheel and then pull the whole lot off!!!

If theres no gap then they can't as far as I'm aware.

Also, I don't think they're allowed to damage your car in the process of trying to get a clamp on. It still counts as criminal damage IIRC.

Id have thought this would be quite a common problem/benefit for people on club-polo!

yeh they can still get a lift under it and just take it away. someone recently tried clamping my car as i'd parked it in what i thought was an un used old loading bay, turns out people where using it and when they tried getting a clamp on and couldn't took it upon themselves to cover my windscreen in vaseline and steal one of my hubcaps :(

nope, some fella came over started telling me i was lucky it hadn't been clamped or the hadn't ram raided it out the way, i then saw red and told him that if he kept on he was going to be burnt alive, he left sharpish!

Unforunetly i was only 40mm down at the back plus tools so about 50mm but if it had been 1cm lower they would of been able to get it on. (Pissed me off so much that did)

Dont know if there are different types of clamps but this one slightly smaller then the arch lip if that makes sense.

Doubt they could lift the car either, i cant get a normal trolley jack under my car either.

From experience just dont risk it, i was luck with a £30 fine rather then a £60 fine which is what ul get charged in town.

I parked in a disable bay and went shopping after i realised i had been clamped so i got my moneies worth lol.

But the c*nt who did the clamping said it was really hard to get on cos its so low and the width of the tyre meant it was hard to get the clamp round

I'm sure that even if your car was slammed most clampers would at least have a go at trying to get the clamp on, probably damaging your car at the same time too.

id never rely on the fact that my car is low to stop me from getting a clamp. these cowboys would get you one way or another.

To get a clamp removed it's usually £60 - £75 where as if it is lifted and taken to the depot it cn incure removal and storage charges.

Either no arch gap or tiny wheels does it, i was speaking to a guy who was clamping a car at the time, i said that he couldn't clamp mine as the wheels were too small... he looked and it said 'minimum size 12"', I'm rolling on 10's with not much arch gap

And they say you cant clamp Citroen DS because of its Slam'O'Matic suspension .

you can legally take a clamp off on private land as long as you don't damage it

i'v done it let the tyre down jack the car up then it may slide off if not move it out the way as best you can and undo the wheel bolts and take the wheel off

You can get clamps that just go through the spokes so require no arch gap. But then you can take the wheel off and put the spare on because nothing covers the bolts.

A quick word to all, I am not saying that i want to park in disabled bays etc. I think that that is wrong, when I'm 80 i want to be able to park close to the supermarket without some idiot in a fiesta parked their!!!

I am just saying that if you get caught out accidentaly then its quite usefull!!!

Atm I'm quite fuckked off with insurance companies and clampers etc so i carry a gun in my car just incase!
