or be a pickey and stick 2 headgaskets on depends on how much psi u wanna run.

Add forged rods and uprated crank to that list.

As well as standalone engine management.

probs just a tad cheaper than 20v swap.

but u can run a 20v on factory managment

foxie mate there is a guy on clublupo runing a 1.4 16v with a charger.

its a lupo sport 100 brake engine dunno if it will be same as your afh

Lupo sport engine is AUB engine code. Theres another engine code to, but I dunno what the other one is. Different from AFH basically, lol.

dont forget uprated gearbox and diff if u want to run anysort of reliability...

Put throttle bodies on at the same time!! Make it worth it

I was speaking with some at E38, well I say speaking, more I was there when some people were speaking about it

But they were saying adding a charger to an engine that already has throttle bodies wouldn't be worth the hassle. Something to do with the charger not being as effective. How true it is or if I've just misunderstood what they are saying is something else!

I'm turbo-ing a 1.4 16V engine at the moment, you're looking at the £3k figure to do the short block engine and everything else like uprated injectors, I/C etc etc, but without complete uprated internals. £4.5k with uprated internals - thats doing all the work yourself with proper VW parts and replacing everything as you go, bolts, oil-pump, gaskets etc etc. To get someone else to do it... labour is going to add a lot!

The you'll start getting problems with your head - float from the cams, and good luck putting the power through an AFH gearbox...

To get a reliable 200+bhp you're looking at a very large sum of money... 10k Id say. Its all the little bits here and there - everything will need uprating or modifying.

To do it properly that is!

There is a guy on clublupo thats supercharged one of the newer 1.4 16V engines as in the 6N2, running approx. 180 bhp, on standard internals, head and gearbox, and he hasnt had any problems for a year or so now I believe. So you could transplant the newer engine, but you're still looking at a few thousand, and for the trouble why not go for something a bit different!

EDIT: didnt realise someone had already mentioned the club lupo charged engine, d'oh!

Just run the 1.6 8v box! Longer end ratio and much stronger and will fit!

If its stronger and a direct fit, why didnt VW use it from the factory?
