This is kinda ridiculous, me in my car, 2 mates in 2 other cars, and probably about 50+ other cars yesterday, got £30 fines for driving round this area of town in Walsall.

If you see the picture, the road system is the only way to get round to the town, and there are no one-way signs there, but apparently it's illegal to drive round the bus station, well thats fair enough.

I'd gone to HSBC to withdraw some cash and then we'd gone to Subway for a munch, parked in front of the shop in one of the pitches.

Came out, and the first set of cops (blue dots) said the other large group were giving out fines for every car that drove up there, so we said ok, we'll turn around...

But no, we weren't allowed! so hang on, there's parking for all those shops, but you cant go back the way you came, you have to carry on and get fined? How the hell does that work?!

So every car was directed forward into the pitches and fined. Best thing was, each car we saw got in and out with a fine in a couple minutes, except us, who they kept for nearly 15 minutes, checkong tyres, window clarity (wtf?), interior scent, seat recline height level (seriously) basically every thing on the car.

The road system arounnd the town is already a joke but this takes the Michael, rant over...

Make a complaint. Surely something can be done about this!! I mean if they held you for longer than everyone else for no reason - harrasment, they said you can't turn around you must carry on and get fined - entrapment...might be worth visiting the local cop shop, asking to see the chief/sarge/big boss man and ask him wtf was happening and why there were not any signs warning of the trap....

Nothing'll probably get done, but it might make you feel better....

I dont want this turning into a Police Hate thread and getting locked, but i do think what happened was unfair, i blame the road system more than anything, and I'm sure we weren't the only kids harrassed longer than normal cars.

The one cop was sound with us and said my exhaust sounds crazy, the one that dealt with my mate was bit of a cow, she had a go at him for laughing with the rest of us..

Seems they were very unfair. Most police are decent enough but it seems you were unlucky, might be worth reporting the incident.

Seems any 'boy racers' in modified vehicles get picked on, happens down here a fair amount too. Alot of people give everyone a bad name. Its a shame you cant ever prove you are an enthusiast as opposed to C*nt who screetches and redlines it everywhere.

Like i say report the incident as it seems you were treated very unfairly, if you wernt doing anything wrong as such i cant see the problem.

If there were no signs idnicating that what you did was illegal, then it is unfair of them (and surely illegal?) to fine you. However, if there was notification and everyone was ignoring it, then you don't have a leg to stand on.

You could always appeal, see what happens

Nobody likes youngsters in a nice/ modified car other than youngsters themselves That's why we'll usually get more grief..though we're the ones who look after our cars and pay insurance/ tax/ keep it legal so that we don't have our pride and joys taken away from us!

I can't be bothered to report it really, we didnt get fined or warned for anything else...

Its not really the cop's fault, the road system is just balls, the council seem to have thought ''oh, instead of letting people park and turn around from the shops, we'll make them drive through an illegal zone and stick cops there to catch them.''

My mate (passenger in the other car) was talking to the sound copper about the roads, saying the council need to use this money to sort it all out, and he agreed.

This all reads well dodgy!

If you get any kind of summons after this set up, go to court with a good motoring lawyer (RAC membership's usually good for that) and contest this to the hilt! It's entrapment and just not legal.

But, as Chezza says - if there were clear warnings and notices about it, and everyone followed an errant leader like sheep - you're stuffed...

Theres a good one like that in Newcastle. The buses only sign comes up after there is no where to turn off the road your already on. What the fuck is the point in that? At least warn people BEFORE they enter the zone, not let them enter it then send Carol Vorderman to clean your window with a vowel.

^^ Exactly the case, Its just too blatant to be a mistake too, just another sly money making scheme.

If they send me a find I'm gonna write 30lb on my ball bag, take a photo and send them in cause thats what I think of there policy.

TBH mate i would go and take photos of any signs, any warnings etc and then go see the Citizens advice bureau or a lawyer frined if you know of any and contest it if you have a case, cos if u are clearly right and theres nothing to say you cant drive down there then surely they cant fine you for it and their in the wrong? plus mention about being kept longer than anyone else and claim harrasment cos it is! i mean my friend was driving my gt before i owned it, me in the pass seat. cops followed us off a roundabout in an unmarked vectra, overtook the car and van behind us AROUND A BLIND BEND (van was already too close to our rear for my liking anyway) then forced his way infront of the van who beeped, flashed, give him the fingers only for them to reply with the blues quickly. then pulled us for a "roiutine roadside check". and i said to him about his driving and he threatened me with obstructing police business and i kindly told him to fuck right off as there was no way he could do me for anything as i hadnt done anything wrong. some cops can be an arse!

Also once got arrested for a really stupid mistake and got taken to the station in the front seat of the van un cuffed and the copper was doing 40 through 30 sections and 50 through the 40's and he told me that they are allowed to under normal police operating procedures and if they are on call they can do any speed they like if the blues n twos are on......... which is bollocks, also discovered that i should of been in the back of the van cuffed to be officially under arrest also had a sound cop who let me off with a good old telling off and made me leave my car overnight after busting us havin a doob lol. not all cops are arseholes but most are!
