A List of ROLL CAGE fabricators

Featured Replies

Ok everyone after a long chat with a few people it has been concluded that we need to find a company or companies somewhere in the south / south east that can fabricate roll cages to a or the specification wanted by a customer...

I know that alot of people want a cage in thier polo / Vw's (including me) and i think its about time we found a or some places that will be able to come up with a realistic solution.

Having spoken to some friends of mine in the industry it seems that are more places/companies that are able to make cages than people account for!!

So if anyone knows of a place near them or just about from experience it would be good to hear about them..

I am going to speak to a friend on Monday who is gonna give me a list of places to phone/check out in the Surrey area as alot of motorsport companies seem to be based off of the west section of the M25 and also down in Kent..

I will put down the places i try on monday, so if you know of anywhere just put up any details you know and we shall see if we can get a list going. That way i can ring some companies and go around and see what thier work is like and what sort of prices they can provide if they are wiling to do public work..

Cheers

what about the northern guys?

:finger:

Sorry! it would be the same if someone up north sorted it though.

we would have to sort it out down here!

custom cages are well expensive!

well ok fine if your going to be a tosser about it, i was thinking more along the lines of why not do a uk wide search rather than just south/south east area as a lot of engineering places have depots all over the place, i know of at least 5 engineering place up here that have places down south as well.

if you delt with a uk wide company then you would open up the market for a group buy and therefore get a greater discount.

i'll do some ringing round then for the northern guys then should i?

tosser!

HeHe, dont get your knickers in a twist!

Wow wow wow!!

Hold tight, it wasn't meant to be a divider between north and south LOL!!

It was just a suggestion as it seems there quite a few well known and respected cage fabricators in the midlands and up north..

For me personally, being located down in Kent, having a rolling sheel and not really being up for towing the shell up to the other end of the country, it seems logical for me to find a fabricator in a closer proximity..

Anyways lets see if we can get a list of places across the board then and see who can come up with the best service/services available

Cheers

south west motorsport?

Just had a look at their website and to be honest from fist impressions they dont look to promising..

The kind of place needed is more of a back to basics engineering and welding fabricators. Most of these kinda places have people who have been working in industry for donkeys and have most likely worked on car chasis', roll cages etc before.

Dont get me wrong though - proper official MIA/FIA cages are not something that any old person with a welder can knock up, but for those of you that are looking for a show cage, then they might be able to help..

Fusion fabrications i think are still going

I got a cage made for my corsa by MPS performance engineering i think they were called!

i spoke to safety devices a while ago, they said their retailers had to order a minimum of 10 cages of each type to make it viable for SD to make make it.

they are jigged up to make the mk2/3 polo cages but need a minimum order of 10

group buy anyone?

Sounds like a plan, but i dont think you will get 10 people in a group buy till about 2010 - plus SD do m/sport cages (not for show).

It might be worth while putting up a group buy though, i might be wrong.........

I personally need a cage within the next 2 months ideally so this would not be viable for me!

Ok,

I have been on to a few companies to see what they can provide.

The type of cage I'm after is as follows

http://s244.photobucket.com/albums/gg3/jez...nt=rollcage.jpg

This cage would also have a bar welded across the rear sus turrets to act as an upper strut brace and also a harness mounting point.

To be honest i have looked at quite alot of companies web sites and photo galleries of work etc etc and have narrowed it down to serveral that i am wiling to take my car to. (i am proper fussy about who does what on my cars lol)

The three i have looked at are unfortunately the some of the most well know roll cage fabricators (well certainly two of them) and probably most expensive.. but i want it done right and professionally!!

So far i have been in contact with Custom Cages, Caged and Andy Robinson Race Cars. All three to me seem to be very well established and have worked on a number of very desirable cars (ferraris etc) so i am happy to take my car there.

So far Caged got straight back to me with a quote of £1350 + vat for a powder coated bolt in cage, fitted or £2300 + vat for a welded in unfinished version of the cage. (i think i know which i would be going for!!)

Custom Cages and Andy Robinson Racing have both been back to me saying that they would comprise a quote for me in the near future so i will let you know what comes about of them as soon as i hear anything.

^^^ that looks more like the jobbie i want. Couldnt be doing with a full on cage, especially for day to day use.
