for example, you go past a junction at 40 in a 30, theres a copper in the junction he blue lights you but when hes behind you your doing 30 ... so he has no proof you were speeding just his opinion that it "looked" as if your speeding does he have any grounds to charge you on ?

Not for speeding, no. Due care maybe, but he'd have to work to make it stand up.

Aye. If theres others in the car with you, use them as witnesses.

I had someone pull me over once because he reckoned i was doing more than 60 in a 60 (i wasn't), but i had 2 mates in the car and i said something along the lines of "this is a 1litre, it barely does 60, and i have two witnesses in the car who can verify my top speed." to which he just said "oh...um..." then went and checked my tyres...

I think he was just pissed off because he looked like Freddie Mercury... :ninja:

Don't get too cocky with them unless you are 10000000000% sure there is absolutely nothing wrong with your car, because if they pull you over, they usually won't let you go until they find something wrong with your car...

If there are 2 policemen and they are both in agreement, then you can be prosecuted for speeding.

If they go down that route, I start checking theirs over. They can find something, and so can I. I don't condone lying to the police, but giving your occupation as "Mechanic" or "MOT tester" normally works well in conjuction with this 8-)

Mmm Hmm .. My first speeding points were because of this .. I overtook a car and the copper was coming in the opisite direction .. (Countryside roads)

He span it around and caught me up 3 miles down the road and expressed that he had been driving at over 90Mph to catch me up for 3 miles so i was therfore speeding ..

Me in my young age said meh .. erm .. yeah .. wish i was a bit smarter then to be honest ..
