I've had similar problems like this, there is too much to question, it is only £20 and the time effort hassle, i would say to him look they worked fine, you have now tried fixing it yourself without me even having the chance to refund or examine, 4 months has passed

as a goodwill gesture i would say you will give him half his refund, so postage be about £7 or so, which that is to be paid all by him, so you owe him about £7, he cant grumble at that, and if he does, just send him wasps in post

Now I try and fit a set of MFA clocks.. with the intention of wiring it all in.. I found that pin5 (earth/stalkmemory1) had actually physically blown its track apart on the plastic circuit wrapped around the cluster, I've managed to remake the circuit and tested it with a meter, and it still doesnt work..

Well it does, but it read 600rpm below actual revs

they're both 7k clocks, but this is almost like someones taken the 8k face out of them to fit to another set to make a premium.. seems to fall in the right palces for 8K anyway..

has anyone else tried fitting an mfa to a non-gti here? or seen this sort of problem??"

This is taken off ED38 sounds like same fella and looks like he's mucked about with them mate, wouldn't give a refund, he would of noticed the blown track when he first got them as i doubt he didn't look at them when they were delivered!
