of course you could do like me, I cut the struts in two near the bottom, welded on a couple of plates, and now I've got camber adjustable struts. Cost less than £5 in materials to mod the struts and £100 a pair of tyres, so it made sense to do it to extend the life of the tyres.

I'm curious......got any pics of them?

also sorry to tell you dude but when you lower a Mk2 that much thats what effect it has, how do you think i feel with a -7offset aswell, my tyres last fuck all and they are £75 each because i don't buy cheap tyres as i actually like grip

Probably has more to do with the fact that you buy soft tyres and rag your car round the lanes actually ;)

Not that its a bad thing, that's what i'll do when the 205's back together.

@sal - 4 wheel tracking is what you want becuase they align the front wheels against the rear wheels. i.e they Fr & Rr gotta line up with each other. (i know rear wheels can't be tracked), so they match fronts to rear-thats what a garage said (might have said to sell it to me).

Also on Mk2's, the only Steering arm that can be adjusted for track is the passenger one, i believe you can buy a drivers adjustable one from VW.

This may have put off your dodgy sounding trackers from tracking properly.

you can get camber shims for the rear

well i got tracking done properly today in a local place using lasers. they said my tracking was so far out that it was off their scale so they had to adjust it by eye until the laser reached the scale. and only two days ago the other place said it was right!!

handles so much better now and the camber issue seems very minor.

thanks to everyone who has advised me on this thread :thumbsup:

Thats what happened with mine. Was so far off the scale the laser was a mile away from the target!

typical of some garages, where did you go after for future ref?

the place i went to today was called WATTS tyres. but its aka king david tyres.

What did you pay if you dont mind me asking (just for comparison).

If you've got a before and after set of results printed out by the last place that laser aligned the car, I'd be taking the results to the place that did it before and said it was correct. Idiots!!! :x

well... something i did mention in my last post was the fact that the track arm was siezed and needed a heat gun to free it up. so surely that meant it hadnt been touched far a while.........

i paid 23.50. was gunna be 18 quid but they had to take the wheel off and free it up so it was a bit more.

watts tyres, where? i live in pontypridd so just asking so i go to a good place when i lower mine :D
