The narrower inlet tract increases the velocity of the air/fuel mixture during induction. This gives more torque at low revs but gives a slight restriction at top end. You would not realy notice the restriction unless you had a de-restricted induction system (air box, TB elbow enlarged, TB ported etc.). and normaly rev past 6k
