can i lower on 185 60 14s on a mk3 without scrubbage if so how low thanks bought the new tyres bout a month and half ago so dont fancy forkin out for low profile any advice would be much appreciated thanks

try o mm lower! they will almost certainly scrub esp. on a square. they will scrub on the front arches, very slightly and also on the splash guard on full lock. on the rear they will probably foul the spring cup holder slightly and scrub like a bitch on the arch lip too.

two options!

1 new tyres 165/55 r14, 165/55 r14, 175/50 r14, 185/50 r14, 185/55 r14 (only ok for -40), 195/45 r14, 165/55s are my preference as they will never scrub regardless of lowering, lots of people use 195/45s but i find anything wider than 175 results in a polo that tramlines on all but the smoothest of roads.

2 get your hammer out and fold the arch lips back, this will need paint work. if you are carefull you can roll the arches to avoid cracking the paint. on the rear spring cup just file a few mm off the outside (you may not need to depending on wheel offset)
