So you agree with this.......

You better get on the phone to the likes of porsche and ferrari and tell them that youv'e actually discovered chassis rigidity does not affect vehicle handling whatsover and they are wasting their time. :disgust:

On the early polos the position of the TCA mounting points on the body move relative to each other due to twisting and bending of the body during cornerning!...... FACT!

Moving of the points where TCA's mount affects suspension geometry! ....FACT

Changing the suspension geometry during cornering has detrimental affects on the vehicles handling! ... FACT

Mounting a brace between these two points means that for the position of the TCA mounting points to move they have to first bend or twist this brace!... FACT

So for the same amount of force exerted the body due to cornering , if an extra piece of tubular section steel has to be subject to bending or torsion the points at either end of this 'lower strut brace' will move less relative to each other! FACT

Now how does this 'lower strut brace' not have any affect whatsoever to the dynamics of the vehicle??????

and you agree the one posted in the first post is the same as the one pictured below....

So you are saying that the above pictured brace has no affect whatsoever with regard to what i said before (that you agreed with!!!!) ????????????? :disgust::roll:

that strutt brace (that meaning the original one in the first post), will do very little if not nothing on a polo mk3, as it is mounted on one side of the track control arm

so just to follow up, I'm not saying no brace works, or that porsche and ferrari are wrong in what they do

Think all Dan's saying is that the other lower braces for the Polo (e.g. Weichers - or the new Polo PP ones) have plates that bolt either side of the TCA mounting point on both mounting points, and this one only has a plate on one side:

dude its fuckin obvious what i am saying, yes the brace is between both track control arms but it is mounted on one side, like andy says, so do the physics of that, its gunna do near nothing to handling!

i have a point that i have clearly made, see of you go with your x y 2 and 3

THE BRACE SHOWN IN THE PICTURE WILL DO VERY LITTLE, IF NOTHING TO STENGTHEN BETWEEN THE TRACK CONTROL ARM MOUNTS

To be honest Dan, I think it'll still work fine. But I'm not a mechanical engineer, coupegts75 on the other hand might actually know a thing or two... ;)

well I'm not going of knowledge, mearly what i can see, if its bolt on just the one side, then surely it is just gunna flex as the chassis would?

the strength of the bar will be down to how tight you have your arm bolt then surely?

like i said I'm just going off what i can see and what i think!

but yeah he sure as might know alot about them which is fair enough, but I'm not being convinced so far!

Ok i see what you mean by one side now but even so having a U-shape bracket intead of a single plate will only affect each of the mounting points in terms of rotation around their own local axis and longditudinal axis of the car slightly only due to the slight bit of extra material. The movement along the Y axis of the car wouldn't vary that much if at all between the two types of braces.

Look.... I'm not saying it will make your car handle like a touring car but that brace still will affect the chassis rigidity! How can it not!

Either way, bolting on one side or two, if the shape of the bar means it runs under and not over the exhaust then it will hit the road on lowered cars rendering them useless in not so many miles lol

These will obviously reduce the flex between the chassis legs, i completly agree with coupegts75... he knows his stuff!! However using one on a lowered car for road use could end in tears

I've had my Wichers for cars lowered more than 40mm with cat since 2001, and it does not look too bad actually

On KW coilovers btw......

It did stiffen up the chassie quite a bit too
