Cheers dude

I've got fk silverline coilies i would recomend them there loverly.

Yeh gets used and abused every day mate it takes me everywhere to work and back every day etc. Its a car after all and i think it should be driven everyday not stored away!

Saying that when i take it off the road for a respray i will have to get a shity runabout.

Think I'm gunna go down the borbet route, got to give dubmeister a ring at some point as it say they are a discontinued style on the website :paranoid:

And i cant be arsed to wait around for some to pop up second hand. Found some brand new on ebay, but they have vauxhall centre bore

Oh and insurance is cheap, as my girlfriend took out the policy and kindly put me on it

Right, handed in my coursework so I've been having a little look round the MK1. Due to lack of cash at the moment i thought id begin to tidy up her arse end.

After:

Bit of a spot the difference!!

i can only spot the badges?

  • Author

lol yep budget modding till payday

Looks much better with new badges.

Looks sooooo clean!

Who's is the 'rocco?

i believe vauxhall centre bore is a bit smaller, i'd imagine an engineering shop could machine them slightly.

lot of messing about though

Who's is the 'rocco?

The rocco is the old bloke who lives across the way from me. Think he has had it from new and has silly low miles on it and he hardly ever use's it

i believe vauxhall centre bore is a bit smaller, i'd imagine an engineering shop could machine them slightly.

lot of messing about though

Bugger that then, dont sound too safe. Have found another place that sells them but i dont think they are stocking them in 8j

Can spot absolutely fook all by the c/c the rear badge.

Is that it?

I hope your bringing this down to the next no-rinsing?

Time for an update. Started getting pissed off about having no sound in the golf, so i set around sorting it out this weekend.

Luckily i had an amp and two subs kicking around from before uni, and i picked this ages ago with the intention of putting them in the first GT but i never got round too it. Plus my current GT had a sub and amp fitted and i didnt want to change them, sounds good enough for me.

Anyway i had to get a new head unit, and this is where the fun began! So saturday i set out to get a cheap one, really wanted a Pioneer as i have always ran these as head units and they seem to have a good sound quality across the board. Anyway to cut along story short, 2 head units down and i was getting really pissed off, so i nicked the one from the polo till i could sort it out.

Next i wanted a cheap set of 13inch speakers, but i wanted to get them installed this weekend. But due to Halfords extensive range and stock levels i ended up getting a Fusion EN-CM525 component set up.

Fusion i hear you say, yes they are a bit F&F (the green does look a bit too much) but i needed sound. Anyway ill let the pics do the talking as i set about getting the stuff fitted today.

Started taking apart the interior, very basic and easy to pull apart:

Then came across this nasty damp stuff which looked like sound proofing. Out it came, luckily the floor was not rotten or rusted:

Began to pull apart the door, set about mounting the speakers in the door cards. Had to think about doing this, as knowing how much GTI door cards go on ebay but one of them was already a bit damaged so i didn't really mind:

Pic of the Fusion components, check out the magnets on them, and the stupid green crossovers:

Then i began to set about rewiring all of the audio cables, think some of them were still there from when it was first made so thought it be a good idea. Got very messy at some points, as i was wiring in the sub and amp too:

Then after some time it looked like this, thank god!

P1010051.jpg

Should have got some close ups of the components, luckily they are not too green. Will get some better pic's 2moz but was in a hurry to get it all sorted and i had a few other bits too do. Still managed to hide the silly looking cross overs thank god! Yes there are holes where the old speaker pockets were, but I'm looking for some caddy door cards which i believe do not have these holes.

Oh and this is in the rear:

P1010050.jpg

Yes i know the sub is upside down, but i used to have the box in a diff position when i last used them. Need to tidy it up, hide the wires screw stuff down but will sort that out when i next get time!

It sounds pretty good too, I'm not really into car sound systems as i have never came across one that sounds anything close to a decent set of monitors.

At last i have sound!

  • 3 weeks later...

Girl friend has it in colchester at the moment I've only just finished my coursework.

Hopefully will get some wheels for it soon, found a set on ebay but got messed around by the seller. Student loan comes thru soon so i may just spunk my money on a new set if nothing pops up soon.

Got a few bits to put on it, but got to wait till i get it back
