Metz GT, with borrowed wheels .

Featured Replies

I visited Neil dubgt today to try his wheels out (15 x 7 et35) for scrubbing issues, I didn't wanna spend cash on some only to find out i couldn't use them so fitting his as a test was a good idea.

Anyway thoughts ? (Brock B2'S for the people that didn't know already)

15" club is needed!

How low is she?

Weitec 60/40mm kit. Had a measure against neils 60mm kit and the fronts are about the same height. I'm thinking - another 10mm up front though but with those wheels i would have to roll the lip on the front arches.

Weitec 60/40mm kit. Had a measure against neils 60mm kit and the fronts are about the same height. I'm thinking - another 10mm up front though but with those wheels i would have to roll the lip on the front arches.

Did you actually fit the rears ?? When fitting the rear wheels the stance would change.

  • Author

no we didnt actually, idle i know. Mine is only lowered 40mm at the rear so didnt bother as if neils on a lower drop didnt rub i didnt think mine would. But i figure i would be dropping it down on the spring plates a little.

When i had 15 wheels on mine which were 6J 40mm lowering springs they used to rub with people in the back .

Granted i didnt have streached tyres at the time .

I would think you might just get away with it iff your lucky .

I did have my arches pulled out slightly aswell though .

Iff i was to run 15" on a mk3 id still go for a 60mm drop though .. lol ..

Oh right, Only person who gets in the back of my car is my 10month old daughter so i would be ok in that respect lol, I had a goo dlook around neils on the 60mm drop and with the 175 50 tyres on there was no sign of them catching at all.

I'm 60/40 on HnR kit and 165/50/15 no rubbing unless four people in the car going over big bumps!

Got a Weitec kit on my mk1 golf rides pretty well. Whats it like on the GT?

  • Author

Very good, a little bumpy on some of englands less well maintained roads but i bought it for its stiffness.

I had the weitec kit on the old saloon and it shows how good it was the fact i have just bought another :-)
