As the jack went down I was stunned into silence.

I appear to have accidentally given the polo the perfect stance!! I honestly couldn't have got it any better if I tried. There's some slight driveshaft/body connection but it'll dent it's way through ;D

I also rode the sump up thhe driveway

That's with 6" 250lb springs and errrr nigh on zero suspension travel! WIll be going up a bit for everyday driving :(

Thing is though (no offence) it really doesn't look all that low. Are those tyres close to standard radius? Not saying it's not low, maybe I've just been looking at too many Mk2 Golfs

The tyres are waaaaaay smaller than original rolling radius! It's now down just over 100mm at the front (thats measuring arch to wheel centre) and about 75 at the back, it could come down a bit at the back but I really like the slightly nose down stance :)

It isnt really useable on the roads I use, being a country bumpkin and all . Going to Wheels Day on friday so it's staying for that, but I have the feeling the 175/65s I usually run may have a bit of a clearance issue at the front! Plus it'll be fapping uncomfortable :p

I like that stance, its easy to slam the back of your car and leave the front high up but its harder to do it the proper way. Nose down arse up!

I had 350lb/inch springs on my old square. You get used to it quite quickly. Although expect passengers to winge about it

Pity the bodywork's a bit shite, but in some ways it makes it look meaner. Not rat-look, but 'used properly for 20 years' look :)

Our style of cars need a category name lol! I always say mines 'ratty' but most really only associate that with air cooled. I mean I take inspiration from them, but essentially there is no way that they will be real ratters in the next 10 years :)

lol i run 250pound springs on the rear of mine cos i have over an extra tonne on the rear axle when most of the install is out it's awefull to drive just bounces down the road so yours must be awefull ?

standard coilover springs are about 100pound and don't move much at all

It's pretty bouncy with the 195/45s on but with 175/65s its not too bad at all.

I'm willing to make a sacrifice for that stance with no tyre rubbing though!

There is give... it'll move about an inch at the rear (that's why I have that arch gap). Think of the people who run on the bump stops with the steering arms clouting the inner wings though (which many people on here do!). Having stiff springs is more predctable than having soft springs that move 10mm then hit the bumpstop... you get that mid corner and you'll end up in a ditch!

And the rear springs are 250lb as well, not the 300lb i thought.

And the speeds I drive at.... i doubt it would embarrass a snail :p

Once you drive a car with a arse end that likes to skip about for a while you get used to it. First time I drove mine in the wet it was interesting but after that I quickly got used to where the limit was and how it was going to act.

This is what I did to get an inch more travel (or an inch lower ride height with the same travel... mehehehe),

I think speed bumps might cause trouble!

Looks good, but I think you'll come to regret it once you pass your test and do lots of miles- gets highly annoying when you're trying to make progress but are being thrown off the road.

With your rear springs I'd be tempted to stich weld your rear turrets, mine started to seperate after running cup car springs for a long period of time, it's nice not to have rubbing but your suspension is the complient component within the car- making it so stiff is just passing the force on through the chassis, which is never good...

iv done 250 miles on a simliar setup and i think its going to be wound up an inch for normal everyday driving.

i love the wheels... they really suit the car, not too fat, not to thin, spot on! the stance is inspirin!
