well 2day after gettin gearbox oil seal sorted, i went about gettin rid off the maze of air intake in the mk3 polo engine bay....i was told it helps, i dint really believe tho and just did it to see what it did.....have to say am impressed with the outcome

before - air in at the grill, through the corigated pipe, which isnt very thick and pretty much destroyes the airflow.....

2 pipes at the top, the left one is part of the air intake.....needs to be pluged or connected to the one on the right...

i chose to plug it, with a screw and bita ducktape, stop it from sucking air in...if it does, car would run lumpy and have a odd idle

airbox removed - needed a clean so that got done, comes off easy, just 10mm bolts

with a hole cut in the front of the box, i left the original mounts in place

heres the final outcome, much cleaner. still have standard filter but gives a nice induction raw, without drawing in warm air like some cone filters do. performance wise, its noticable, car picks up better just abit more pokey

there you go my productive day, most of you probably know how to do this already, but for any noobs lol......

yeah ino, i wanted to keep the original intake bits, but they might go soon.....

I did the same on the saloon back in 05, never had any probs with it and it does make a noticable difference like you..especially on cold winter nights.

I iwll get you a t peice for the vacuum pipe, neater.

Good work, not got round to seeing how i can butcher my box yet but will do soon.

More air flow restriction

Heres what i did a few weeks ago, didnt make much difference but i didnt have any vaccume pipes so was the best option for me.

Every little helps.
