Mk 4 polo .

Thought i'd get some opinions first, incase anyone has had this issue before, or similar experiences.

My central locking dies if theres been a lot of rain, as the pump gets wet.

When its left to dry out it then works again, prob is I dont want to go through this everytime it rains, and need to find where water is coming from.

I've got fitted some after market tail lights and I'm thinking these may potentially be the issue as the seals may not be as good as the originals. Or its getting up all the carpet and finding rust etc then getting the car wet and waiting to see where its from...

I can't remember where the central locking pump is in a mk4 - can you remind me on that one?

There's a lot to be said for the sit inside while someone hoses the car down approach to leak location.

was the lights it seemed so i applied some silicon sealent on the slight gap that was causing the issue, seems to have fixed it and put the pump in the airing cupboard to dry out for a day, which has bought it back to life. So all good.

Just real glad it works on air not newer electric parts, got to petrol station on empty and the central locking died again, cudnt open the locking cap because the locking pin is on the same locking system so had to jump in the boot and blow down the pipe and push the locks up that way took a few attempts, but it worked.

Hi, I have a Polo 6N2, 2001 4 door.

The motor/pump has started to over run when I lock and unlock the car. I know this points to a leak in the pneumatics but wanted to ask whether anyone knows the routing of the pipes ?

I have checked each door one by one and capped off the pipe but it's still the same.

Has anyone had a similar problem ?
