Cheating Bastards

Just got my insurance premium thorugh the post today as it's up for renewal middle of April. My current policy costs me £91.29/month and £228 deposit which totalled £1141 for a year. By my renewal date i will of been driving a year, 18 years old, hopefully a years no claims and hopefully no points and they decided to knock off £54! which i think is a complete joke. So has anyone else had crap renewal quotes like this before and is there any other companies that can better that bearing in mind my car is modified. Also i'm with Quinn which is was told was best for young drivers with modified cars.

I've always said to people once you get your first years no cliams change your company because you will easily find a cheaper quote.

The company you are with are just trying it on!

I'd say you should be under a grand a year for insurance now!

All the years i have been driving i have never been with a company for more than a year.

I find that there is ALWAYS another company that will do it cheaper to get you to go with them.

Get your phone and call as many as you can.

I am coming up to 3 years NCB and each year I have change my insurer Budget, Quinn, now Direct line.

It's a case for spending a day on the phone to find the best quote, Direct line offered me a 0% APR for my monthly payments witch meant the policy was about £50 more than Quinn's renewal but with 0% it was cheaper per month and Direct line offer a lot of extras over Quinn. Windscreen chip repair, vandalism cover etc.

Most insurance companies do it regardless. I was with elephant, had another year's driving, another year's no claims, nothing happened, and they stuck my renewal up £100.

So I shopped around, ended up with Lancaster, and saved the best part of £300 off my renewal.

They thrive on the people who won't bother to shop round.

In 8 years of insurance this was the first time I renewed with the same broker. Even that was after calling other brokers and going back to mine and getting the quote down further 'to keep my business'.

It was Brentacre after all...did't really want to leave!

Bolly!

I have shopped around and got lower quotes but my car has modifications and Quinn is the only company i can find that insure a lot of mods without increasing the premium. If i did my Pass Plus would it still count a year after i passed because i think that should bring down my renewal quote a fair bit

in the 4 years I've been driving my insurance has gone down 200 each year as I've changed companies, you've just gotta search about

shit, my first years insurance was £1184 or thereabouts with quinn, when they sent me my renewal it was £548 or something like that, then when i changed cars to the 1.4 polo, it only went up by £65 or something, maybe its cos i'm 21 though i dunno.....

Yup, go shop around!!!

if you do find a cheaper "comparable" quote then go back to your insurer & drill them into the ground....but make sur e you have a back up plan just in case you can't get what you want!!

Insurers just see the 'renewal' as a renewal giving you the same thing as last time with no changes. They just try selling you the same price but know they have to decrease their quote so give you stupid figures. Thats why no one ever manages to stay with a certain insurer for long.

Roly try HIC, they're great on modified cars and can exchange like for like on mods which you'll have to speak to hem about. The only problem with them is they're quotes are based on limited mileage and you need to give them an exact mileage read-out. If you exceed your limitation you discussed you do average in a year you just add a premium to increase it.

Unless your a 1st time driver a pass plus wouldn't make any difference, as a friend who's a broker has showed me on quotes.

my 1st year insurance was 2k on a 1.4 cl polo

2nd year was 950 on 1.6 sport corsa

hoping for it to drop quite a lot soon

NOZ i tried getting a quote with HIC but they dont insure drivers under 19. I was put through to a few insurance compay's that insure modified vehicles but was getting quotes of about 2k!! so looks like i'll just have to haggle hard with Quinn or just except their lousy renewal quote

am on my second year with admiral....there quote was lowest 1st year and again the second year lol
