Petrol gauge has gone mentle :s

Featured Replies

Been having a problem with my petrol gauge for the past few days, basically it has about 3 quarters of a tank in it, but when i turn left it dives right into the red like i've turned off the ignition then sorts itself out if I'm going in a straight line or turn right.

Anyone have any ideas of what it might be, as i really havn't got a clue about the inner workings of a petrol tank :retard:

EDIT: Just realised i stuck this in the wrong section, could a mod please give it a nudge into the correct one? :-D

mine done the same, but wen i turned the ignition off, it stayed about half full. wen i turned it back on, it went round past full. now the needle doesnt work at all.....but the petrol light still comes on. i had it checked and the clocks have gone, well they all work except the petrol guage. so i need a new set of clocks for a 6n 16v, cant find any though :-(

it may just be the float thing in the tank thought....

the most common thing on these is the tank sender unit/pump, they dick about, and as far as i know there is no way to fix them
