Everytime i turn my car on, the sub thumps a few times, why is this?

pos that you have a bad earth how powerfull is your amp and sub if your using anything over 1000 watts you need thicker power cable as well as thicker earth cable ie awg4 or awg 6 try a thicker earth if that still dont help try moving your rca away from your power cable

thanks mate, i'll give that a shot, yeah i have a 1500watt amp and a 1200watt sub, obviously peak power!

be sure when you re do the earth you make sure you have it to fresh metal !!

and if you have the amp on the back of the sub box put some VERY light glue or something on the screws for the amp. to stop the vibration loosening the screws.

i did this and it shops the screws coming loose and shorting on your system... i had this and it kept causing the sub to thump as it shorted

startup thump used to be a common prob on old amps, most modern ones have an anti-thump circuit, though cheaper amps tend not to.

mine pulse's like a heart beat when my cd is loading

could be something you are head unit does on its own some sonys do this when they turn off or it could be the way uve wired the remote on

Definately a bad earth somewhere, or earth track on the headunit though only usually a problem on Pioneers.

Just clean up the connections and see how it goes.

iv got the same problem, the thing is iv had the earth in the same place for a year no probs, iv just bought a new alpine amp and is thumping then my sony head unit turns off? does anyone know the best places for earthing?
