It's good to see that BMW have gone to the effort of providing a huge range of parts for models which are as old as that. It'd be good if VW could claim to be as good. How many Original Parts could VW supply for the Mk1 Polo I wonder?

All things considered, it probably wasn't such a hard task really, not with all those parts and resources to hand. It's not as if it was being done by Joe Public who would have to wait ages for the right and often obsolete part to come along etc etc.

i cant see building something like that hard as all/ near enough all parts are brand new they will all have contacts they wont be cleaning and painting and installing they will simply be instaling. woudl be good to do something like that though

I found a MK3 Golf recently,most parts brand new. Had just been built. I spent a few minutes just sitting in it,the grain-texture around the steering wheel,the support of the drivers seat,it was a museum piece. The ABD engine was black but used. The cylinder head wasnt,with a december '05 date wheel casting. So what did i do? I ripped the engine out of it.

The story was that it'd been stripped and completely re-built,using mostly new parts. It hadn't needed to be re-sprayed,as it was a mint low miler anyway. But for some reason undisclosed,the DVLA wouldnt let it back on the road. After major inspection by myself and a friend,he found blood spots on the inside of the driver's sun visor. So a part brand new/part minter sat there by the crusher.

Lol It kept breaking gearboxes,id had enough. Then it broke a TCA bolt,and tore back the front wing. Still got it. Currently building a couple of engines to see what works - a 1450cc iron block with small gearbox initially,but i'll try a tall-block gearbox on alloy Golf 1.6 if not. The Seat's a very boring car,its for sale,i also have a mildly tuned '92 Rondar 416 GTi automatic - oddly more fun.

To be fair,you could have three Focus ST's for the money,but i wouldnt want one,let alone three. The 2002 aint pretty,but i know someone currently restoring one,and he also owns various classic RS Escorts including a MK1 twin cam,RS2000 and MK2 RS1800 BDA-16v,MK1 Morris Cooper and both MK1 and MK2 Lotus Cortinas. Having restored them. So if he thinks the 2002 is worth restoring,its gotta be good.
