DO 195/45/15s RUB? mk4 60mm DROP

Featured Replies

I've got some 15" Ronal Turbo's and my 3door MK4 is lowered 60mm all round.

I've currently got the steelies on with no rubbage - ever just so slightly catching under full lock, but thats fine.

What are the biggest tyres I can get to match this as I want them as least stretched as possible.

184/45s

no rub? i find that hard to believe as 195 50s rub like a utter son of a bitch

That's because 195/50s are the complete wrong tyre size and are toooo big for the car, whereas 195/45s are just right.

I dont see how 5mm will make that much less rubbage :/ am i wrong? whats the next size down 185 / 45s?

Can anyone with this set up let me know.

Who said 5mm? There is 20mm less diameter running a 195/45 over a 195/50!

oh right, so 195/45 wont rub at all?

I'm not going to say it won't rub at all because I've never run that tyre on a Mk4, plenty of other people have without any problems though.

What's the offset?

They are 7x15 with an ET28 (offset)

SHOULD be ok. but even the same model cars are always different. 8-)

are you keeping 7's all around ? or just sorting out your tyres ?

just sorting tyres

the profile is a percentage of the width, not the height in mm

any deffinote yes or no?

They'll be fine, will probably only catch slightly over big bumps/potholes or hardcore cornering 8-)

yhh should be alright, but if you do get some rubbing you could always go for some 165/50

ideally dont want no stretch as its a commuter car.

anyone speaking with experiance as rubbage annoys the fek out of me?

TBH you'll just have to try them. Every car, tyre, and lowering kit is different. :)

thats depressing :p

Well if 195 50 15s rubbed on standard suspension on speed bumps with a full car or on near full lock being 60mm lower I cant see 45s not rubbing :/

Damn it tyres cost a fortune!

You would be surprised what a difference going from 195/50s to 195/45s will make. The height of the tyre is sometimes more important than the width. Also, a 195/45 will more than likely sit close to the rim, where a 195/50 could start to balloon slightly.

what would be the size inbetween 195 45 15 and 165 50 15 that i could get?

175/50 or maybe 185/45 but both are available only in poop tyre makes.

yeah i thought it was weird i couldnt find any decent tyres in that size.

cant believe no one who runs 15s on 7 has got back there must be loads of you!
