Tried VW? I've never fitted that cam-cover but I've never had an oil sump leak with the white silicone stuff they gave me.

Could try a new gasket? They do sell them seperately.

cant get on

done it yesterday with some diferent stuff

hope it hols out this time , althow is smells a bit funky

is the rest of the engine healthy? I had a rocker cover leak before from a blocked breather.

^^ how did you find out the breather was blocked?

my rocker cover is leaking quite badly and has been for a little while i have replaced the gasket and re-sealedit twice, its torqued down properly but its still leaking, i dont think the cover is warped because its leaking from most of the cover not just in certain places

1.4 16v cam cover gasket not available on its own . You can only buy it with cam cover £130.00 from vw dealer or you can use a sealant but not silicone type

wurth uk do one and its very good (will post name and part no when i get to work in morning)

I thought the gasket wasn't available separately either, dunno if it's just recently or not, but you definately can now.

Unless my local dealer was looking at another gasket - but he definately thought he could get one.

As of June 2007 or something.

Ah, I knew I wasn't going insane

right people help needed!! my rocker cover is leaking pretty badly and has been getting slowly worse over time, i have replaced the gasket, re-sealed it twice and both time made sure it was torqued down properly but its still leaking and now in the last few days it has started mis-firing pretty badly i dont know whether this is related or not i doubt it is cos the cover has been leaking for some time and it has only started mis-firing this week, it only tends to be when its cold and when you have just changed up a gear and accelerate a bit on the fast side (not thrashing it just a bit fast) what could be causing the leak? someone said something about a breather? are you on about the breather on top of the cam cover? if so where does this go? and is there anything i should know cos i plan on taking this off at the weekend to give it a clean

any help will be GREATLY appreciated

cheers

nath

think the only answer to stop it leaking is to get everything skimmed

^^ where would i go to get that done? and how much roughly owuld it cost?

Are your oil and water OK?

This sounds like a bigger problem than just a rocker gasket leaking.

my 16v rocker cover leaked from the cam belt end at the front its been sealed twice now the second time they removed the seal then cleaned it all then sealed the seal back in to the cover then sealed it on with a nice bead and it has held so far i was told by 2 vw garages 1 of which i know the lad in parts fairly well in febuary that you cant get the seal seperate the only options were a green gasket sealer from vw dont know what the garage used apart from it wasnt the vw one or the rocker cover for £130 + vat hope this helps
