Everyone knows all cars look better on the deck (well, apart from Landys, they need at least a 2" lift). Why though?

What is it about a lowered car that makes it look so much better? Why is it that arch gap looks gay?

It doesn't have to be fancy wheels or low profile tyres, just cars look 10 times better lowered.

I spose they look more mean and stealthy. There is NO WAY I could be arsed to have one as my daily drive though! :-D

I think its got something to do with the fact it hides all the dirt and grim and shit that collects under the arches and on the suspension which on most cars these days is clearly visable. So lowering hides this and makes the car look cleaner.

Also gives the car a more aggresive stance and presence.

arch gap is not actually gay, and to question its sexuality in this way could be classed as liable/slanderous to suggest other wise. so on behalf of club polo i would like to say, the views and opinions expressed on this thread are the opinions of the author and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of club polo.

*about to open a can of worms and make enemies* lowered cars dont necesarily look better, we have just been programmed to think that they do. i dont mean programmed like a computer, i mean through exposure. lowered cars have been the norm for as long as we can remember, but imagine if 'raising' or highering your car had been the normal procedure for all those years.

Most concepts have decked suspension and rubber band tyres too.

I'm not a major fan of stretch and poke, but tuck and slam is good.

IIRC it was cool in the 70's to jack up only the rear suspension of your car.

This also puts me well above CP's upper age limit. I'll go and stand in a corner now.

Id rather have a nice stance than just getting low!

I reckon it all depends on the car. I like the sporty look of most cars but something like a Bentley GT would look so ridiculous if you decided to lower or raise the suspension. Its not just luxury cars either, I think new style Subaru's and the like generally look better when they are left alone...

I agree abit with the programmed theory, after all how weird does a MK1 golf look at standard ride height???

Another car that needs no lowering is the BMW M3. Every example they've ever made has just about the right ride height...

Is that not any BMW though? They never have masses of arch gap, generally it's spot on, especially the newer ones!
